Where this route gets difficult

6 pain points from Xiamen to Yangon

They run from the Xiamen terminal through the voyage to Yangon and the Myanmar import file.

  1. Origin port

    Xiamen's fast appraisal needs matching data

    Through the single window, Xiamen Customs now issues the lithium battery packaging use-appraisal certificate after automatic pre-review matching: roughly 10 minutes in a case reported in August 2026, compared with about half a day for the former on-site inspection. Only products that pass pre-review as compliant and valid get the fast path; mismatches return to inspection.

    What Anxin does: We check the product data, UN38.3 summary and packaging codes against the application before it is submitted, so the certificate comes through pre-review rather than falling back to an on-site check.

  2. Origin port

    Xiamen MSA's 'one ship, one plan' for large battery cargo

    Xiamen MSA offers pre-review of key DG documents, a pre-loading meeting at which ship, cargo owner, terminal and agent agree deck stowage and emergency measures, and a 'one ship, one plan' checklist from gate-in to sailing. In June 2026 it reported 104 energy-storage containers of 36 tonnes each loaded for Houston on a multipurpose ship.

    What Anxin does: We send the key documents for pre-review before the formal filing and bring the stowage and emergency details the meeting will ask for.

  3. Sea corridor

    Two cyclone seasons in the North Indian Ocean

    The India Meteorological Department describes two cyclone seasons in the North Indian Ocean, April–May and October–December, the latter being the main one. Port closures and vessels waiting out a storm push the arrival at Yangon back.

    What Anxin does: For sailings in those months we plan delivery with slack at Yangon and confirm the carrier's revised arrival before booking onward transport.

  4. Import country

    Payments to Myanmar get enhanced due diligence

    FATF keeps Myanmar on its call-for-action list and asks its members to apply enhanced due diligence; it will consider countermeasures if there is no progress by October 2026. Banks in China and elsewhere may therefore take longer over payments linked to a shipment for Yangon, or ask for more documents.

    What Anxin does: We settle payment terms and the paying bank with the buyer before the goods leave Xiamen, and keep the trade documents ready for the bank's checks.

  5. Import country

    Screening for military end use

    The EU's measures on Myanmar, extended to 30 April 2027, include an arms embargo and a ban on dual-use exports for the military and border guard police. For industrial or energy-storage systems going to Yangon, the buyer and end user should be screened before the goods ship.

    What Anxin does: For industrial and ESS consignments we ask for end-user details and screen the parties against current sanctions lists before booking.

  6. Import country

    State-owned banks under US sanctions

    OFAC designated the Myanma Foreign Trade Bank and the Myanma Investment and Commercial Bank in June 2023. A letter of credit or payment routed through either bank for goods to Yangon runs into those sanctions, so the payment route should be agreed at the outset.

    What Anxin does: We check with the buyer that payment will not route through a designated bank before we accept the booking.

What to have ready: Xiamen to Yangon
