Lithium batteries for Port Said go through Xiamen, the port for more than 90% of Fujian's lithium battery exports. On the way they face a Suez corridor that Mediterranean services are using again more than any other Asia–Europe lane, and they arrive at the port of Port Said.

Egyptian customs will not unload a bill of lading without an ACID number. The 5 points below are particular to this lane; each comes with what we do and the paperwork it touches.

What we need to start

  • Xiamen export
  • Online packaging appraisal
  • ACID number on the B/L
  • Exporter verified on CargoX
  • Importers Register entry (GOEIC)

Route profile

The Xiamen → Port Said route in brief

Origin port

Xiamen (Haicang / Songyu)

Fujian's battery gateway, handling more than 90% of the province's lithium battery exports, with 10-minute online packaging appraisal for compliant products and the Taiwan Strait's winter monsoon on the doorstep.

Import country

Egypt

For Egypt the exporter's CargoX account and the importer's ACID number matter as much as the DG paperwork.

Where this route gets difficult

5 points to plan for on the Xiamen → Port Said route

They run from the Xiamen terminal through the voyage to Port Said and the Egypt import file.

  1. Origin port

Xiamen ESS on multipurpose vessels and class 9 berths

Xiamen's energy-storage transport guide 2.0 (August 2026) notes that some ESS containers sail on multipurpose ships and calls for a pre-voyage meeting with the terminal and lashing contractors. It names the terminals qualified for class 9: Xiamen Hyundai terminal, Yuanhai Tongda, and Haixiang berths 7–8.

What Anxin does: For ESS units we confirm early whether the carrier offers container-ship or multipurpose carriage, which qualified terminal is used, and who attends the pre-voyage meeting.

  2. Origin port

Strong winds in the Taiwan Strait from day one

Leaving Xiamen, ships are in the Taiwan Strait at once. A Chinese government weather account says the strait's funnel effect adds 1–2 Beaufort levels to the wind, and that the north-east monsoon of winter and spring brings force 7 or more on about two days in three. Lashing on container ships should be secured accordingly.

What Anxin does: From October to April we apply the CINS blocking and bracing checks strictly on stuffing photos before sealing.

  3. Sea corridor

    Suez itself is working normally

The JMIC's September 2026 update rated the northern Red Sea and Suez Canal MODERATE, with the canal operating in both directions and container lines returning selectively, and the Eastern Mediterranean LOW. The risk on this corridor is concentrated at the southern entrance of the Red Sea rather than at the canal.

What Anxin does: We check before each booking whether the service has changed routing since the last quote.

  4. Import country

The broker needs a registered power of attorney or a Nafeza authorisation

Under Customs Law No. 207 of 2020 and its Executive Regulations, a broker can only clear a private-sector shipment in Egypt with an official power of attorney through the Real Estate Registry or an electronic authorisation on Nafeza. Without it the broker at Port Said cannot act for the importer, however complete the ACI file is.

What Anxin does: We ask the importer which broker will clear the container and whether its Nafeza authorisation is in place before the ship arrives.

  5. Import country

No ACID on the bill of lading, no unloading

Egypt's Advance Cargo Information system needs a 19-digit ACID number, obtained by the Egyptian importer on Nafeza before the cargo leaves Xiamen, on every shipping document including the bill of lading. Customs' own guidance is blunt: bills of lading without an ACID are not unloaded, and the goods are re-shipped out of Egypt at the carrier's expense.

What Anxin does: We do not release a booking for Port Said until the importer has sent the ACID number, and we check it appears on the bill of lading draft, invoice and packing list.

Send the file once, complete

Most delays on this route start with a document that exists but does not match: a UN number, a model name or a package count that differs between the Xiamen filings, the carrier booking and the Egypt import file. We check the three against each other before the booking is confirmed.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions

Questions about shipping from Xiamen to Port Said

A 19-digit number the Egyptian importer obtains on Nafeza before the shipment departs; it must be on the bill of lading and all shipping documents, or the cargo is not unloaded.

Often: in September 2026, 57% of Asia–Mediterranean services used the Red Sea routing. Bab el-Mandeb was rated a SUBSTANTIAL threat by the JMIC on 24 September 2026, so we confirm each service's routing before booking.

Yes. Xiamen MSA reported 104 ESS containers of 36 tonnes each loaded for Houston in June 2026. Xiamen's ESS guide 2.0 requires a pre-voyage meeting and use of a class 9 qualified terminal.
