Xiamen to Wollongong
Taiwan Strait · Luzon Strait · Philippine Sea · Bismarck Sea · Vitiaz Strait · Solomon Sea · Jomard Passage · Coral Sea
From Xiamen to Wollongong, cargo moves through Xiamen, the port for more than 90% of Fujian's lithium battery exports, crosses a long corridor south from the China coast, across the equator, and is discharged at the port of Wollongong.
In Australia the cargo report, the packing declaration and each port's DG notice set the timetable. The 5 points below are particular to this lane; each comes with what we do and the paperwork it touches.
What we need to start
Route profile
Fujian's battery gateway, handling more than 90% of the province's lithium battery exports, with 10-minute online packaging appraisal for compliant products and the Taiwan Strait's winter monsoon on the doorstep.
For Australia, the cargo report, the packing declaration and the state's DG notice all come before arrival.

Where this route gets difficult
Loading port first, then the sea leg, then Wollongong and the Australia market.
Xiamen Customs now issues the packaging use-appraisal certificate for lithium batteries through the single window after automatic pre-review matching: about 10 minutes in the case reported in August 2026, against roughly half a day for the old on-site inspection. The fast path is only for products that pass pre-review as compliant and valid; anything that does not match goes back to inspection.
What Anxin does: We check the product data, UN38.3 summary and packaging codes against the application before it is submitted, so the certificate comes through pre-review rather than falling back to an on-site check.
Xiamen's energy-storage transport guide 2.0 (August 2026) notes that some ESS containers are carried on multipurpose ships and requires a pre-voyage meeting with the terminal and lashing parties. It also lists the terminals with class 9 qualification: Xiamen Hyundai terminal, Yuanhai Tongda, and Haixiang berths 7–8.
What Anxin does: For ESS units we confirm early whether the carrier offers container-ship or multipurpose carriage, which qualified terminal is used, and who attends the pre-voyage meeting.
The first part of the route passes the western North Pacific typhoon area, which averages 25.1 typhoons a year, peaking in August and September (Japan Meteorological Agency, 1991–2020).
What Anxin does: For July–October sailings we confirm DG cut-offs a week ahead and refile promptly if the vessel changes.
In NSW ports, dangerous goods including Class 9 must be notified through the Port Management System at least 24 hours before the ship enters the port's operational area. The carrier's agent files it for Wollongong, using the DG data from the booking in Xiamen.
What Anxin does: We give the carrier the UN number, class, packing group and quantity when booking, so the NSW notification for Wollongong can be made in good time.
NSW Ports describes Port Kembla, the port of Wollongong, as handling all NSW vehicle imports plus general, oversize and project cargo, grain and coal, while Port Botany takes 99.6% of the state's containers. A container for Wollongong may therefore travel via Botany and finish by road.
What Anxin does: We check with the carrier whether it calls at Port Kembla at all before quoting, and plan road delivery from Port Botany if it does not.

Documents & compliance
Anxin reviews documents supplied by the shipper, manufacturer and importer; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

A document that is present but inconsistent holds a booking as surely as a missing one: the UN number, model name or carton count reads differently in the Xiamen export filings, the carrier booking and the Australia import papers. We compare all three before confirming space.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |

| Application fails pre-review and falls back to on-site inspection | Xiamen Customs | Data checked against the application first | Anxin with the manufacturer |
