From Tianjin to Port Everglades, cargo moves through Tianjin, with its Beijiang and Dongjiang terminals on the Bohai Bay, crosses a corridor through the Panama Canal, and is discharged at the port of Port Everglades.
The US side starts with two filings due before loading and ends with a road leg that must carry a live emergency number. The 5 points below are particular to this lane; each comes with what we do and the paperwork it touches.
What we need to start
Route profile
A Panama Canal corridor whose Neopanamax draft depends on Gatun Lake levels, followed by the Caribbean during hurricane season.
From ISF and AMS in China to a monitored emergency number on the US truck leg, with Section 301 and UFLPA shaping what arrives.

Where this route gets difficult
Loading port first, then the sea leg, then Port Everglades and the United States market.
Tianjin MSA itself said in July 2026 that, under the traditional review model, long document reviews often made firms miss the vessel's document cut-off, leaving cargo in port to be re-allocated to another ship. Its new fast-track green channel (appointment-based, more than 50% faster, with a fixed document list) is for new-energy-vehicle cargo; battery shipments should not assume they qualify.
What Anxin does: We submit the cargo report with the full document set (safe-carriage declaration, SDS, packing certificate, packaging certificate) days before the cut-off rather than on the day, and treat any MSA query as same-day work.
After the canal, ships to Port Everglades cross the Caribbean, where the Atlantic hurricane season lasts from 1 June to 30 November and peaks around 10 September; an average year brings 14 named storms and 7 hurricanes. Ports close ahead of a storm and vessels wait or divert.
What Anxin does: For August–October arrivals we build slack into delivery plans and pass the carrier's revised arrival straight to your consignee.
19 CFR 134.11 requires every imported article, or its container, to carry the English name of the country of origin in a conspicuous place, as legibly, indelibly and permanently as the article allows, at the time it is imported. Batteries and battery products reaching Port Everglades without it can be held until they are marked.
What Anxin does: We check product and carton photos for a durable 'Made in China' marking before stuffing in Tianjin, rather than leaving it for re-marking in a US warehouse.
CBP must have the Importer Security Filing 24 hours before the container is laden in Tianjin, and its liquidated damages guidelines provide for a claim for each late, inaccurate or incomplete filing. The stuffing location and consolidator can only be filled in once the container is packed, which leaves a short window.
What Anxin does: We send the importer's ISF filer the stuffing location, consolidator and manufacturer details as soon as the container is packed in Tianjin, ahead of the vessel's loading window.
A container landed at Port Everglades without a release permit may stay at the terminal only until the 15th calendar day. The carrier must then notify CBP and a bonded general order warehouse, which moves and stores the goods at the consignee's risk and expense (19 CFR 4.37). Not every general order warehouse can take Class 9 battery cargo, and where specialized storage is missing the port director decides where it goes.
What Anxin does: We check with the importer's broker that the entry can be filed before arrival at Port Everglades, and chase any missing invoice or HTS detail while the ship is still at sea.

Documents & compliance
Anxin reviews documents supplied by the shipper, manufacturer and importer; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

Most delays on this route start with a document that exists but does not match: a UN number, a model name or a package count that differs between the Tianjin filings, the carrier booking and the United States import file. We check the three against each other before the booking is confirmed.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Document review runs past the vessel cut-off; cargo re-allocated to a later ship | Tianjin MSA review | Complete document set filed days before cut-off | Anxin with the declarant |
| Hurricane closes ports or diverts the vessel | Caribbean / Gulf, Jun–Nov | Slack in delivery plan | Carrier / consignee |
| Late or inaccurate ISF | Before loading abroad | Stuffing and consolidator data sent to the ISF filer immediately after packing | Anxin with the ISF filer |
Questions
Yes, if the container moves on a public highway. The IMDG waiver in 49 CFR 171.25(d)(2) only covers cargo that stays on the ship or moves between vessels; otherwise 49 CFR 172.604 requires a monitored number answered by someone with the emergency information. Goods shipped as 'Battery powered equipment' are exempt.
It can. In September 2026 the Panama Canal Authority postponed a planned draft cut in the Neopanamax locks because of Gatun Lake levels (advisory A-33-2026). We check the advisory in force when quoting.
The green channel Tianjin MSA announced in July 2026 is for new-energy-vehicle cargo. For battery containers we plan on the normal review and file early, because Tianjin MSA has said long reviews under the traditional model often cost firms their vessel cut-off.
