Lithium batteries for Yangon go out of Tianjin's Xingang terminals, where customs can supervise stuffing at the factory and the box goes straight to the ship on a booked slot. On the way they face the Indian Ocean monsoon corridor, and they arrive at the port of Yangon.
Myanmar adds a non-automatic import licence that must be in hand before the goods ship. This page sets out 6 points specific to this route, how Anxin handles each one and which documents to prepare.
What we need to start
Route profile
North China's main container gateway, where Tianjin Customs lets DG containers be inspected at the factory and loaded on arrival within a booked port slot, and where the Bohai Bay freezes at its edges in mid-winter.
An Indian Ocean route: rough south-west monsoon seas from June to September and cyclone windows in April-May and October-December.

Where this route gets difficult
In the order the cargo meets them: at the loading port, at sea, at Yangon and at customs in Myanmar.
Tianjin Customs runs a 'supervised factory loading, direct loading on port arrival' model for dangerous goods: officers oversee stuffing at the factory, the declaration goes in early through the single window, and the container enters the port in a slot booked on the customs–port platform and goes straight to the ship. Any inspection happens in closed yards inside the Beijiang and Dongjiang terminals. The time saved depends on the stuffing date, the slot and the declared data all matching.
What Anxin does: We fix the stuffing date against the vessel's DG cut-off first, then book the entry slot, and check that the declaration, the packing certificate and the container number agree before the truck leaves, so the box is not diverted to an inspection yard for a data mismatch.
Export dangerous-goods packaging must pass use appraisal in China before the goods can leave. Tianjin port's 2025 measures shortened appraisal time for lithium battery exports through quick release, and Tianjin Port Group handles lithium DG containers, but without the appraisal certificate the rest of the filing cannot proceed.
What Anxin does: We check at quotation that the packaging maker has its performance appraisal and apply for the use appraisal as soon as the packing is fixed, so the certificate is in hand before the MSA filing.
ReCAAP counted 21 armed-robbery incidents in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore in the first half of 2026, down 74% but still 60% of all Asian cases. They are mostly night-time thefts of engine spares from bulk carriers and barges; a container ship bound for Yangon is a less usual target but uses the same lanes.
What Anxin does: We keep the vessel and voyage on the booking record for Yangon, so a carrier incident or delay notice can be matched to the shipment straight away.
Since 1 August 2024 Myanmar has required non-automatic import licences for 1,460 tariff lines, and the licence must be in hand before import. Goods arriving at Yangon without one face penalties under the 2012 Export and Import Law, so the licence status is the first thing to check.
What Anxin does: We ask the consignee for the import licence covering the batteries' tariff line before accepting the booking from Tianjin.
FATF keeps Myanmar on its call-for-action list and asks its members to apply enhanced due diligence; it will consider countermeasures if there is no progress by October 2026. Banks in China and elsewhere may therefore take longer over payments linked to a shipment for Yangon, or ask for more documents.
What Anxin does: We settle payment terms and the paying bank with the buyer before the goods leave Tianjin, and keep the trade documents ready for the bank's checks.
The EU's measures on Myanmar, extended to 30 April 2027, include an arms embargo and a ban on dual-use exports for the military and border guard police. For industrial or energy-storage systems going to Yangon, the buyer and end user should be screened before the goods ship.
What Anxin does: For industrial and ESS consignments we ask for end-user details and screen the parties against current sanctions lists before booking.

Documents & compliance
These documents come from the shipper, the manufacturer and the importer. Anxin checks them against each other; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

Most delays on this route start with a document that exists but does not match: a UN number, a model name or a package count that differs between the Tianjin filings, the carrier booking and the Myanmar import file. We check the three against each other before the booking is confirmed.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Box sent to the terminal inspection yard because declared data do not match | Beijiang / Dongjiang terminals | Declaration, packing certificate and container number cross-checked before trucking | Anxin |
| Goods penalised for arriving without an import licence | Yangon | Licence checked before booking | Importer |
| Payment delayed by bank due diligence | Paying and receiving banks | Payment terms settled before shipment | Buyer and seller |
Questions
It was designated by OFAC in June 2023, as was Myanma Investment and Commercial Bank, so a payment route that avoids them should be agreed first.
The India Meteorological Department describes two North Indian Ocean seasons, April–May and October–December, the latter being the main one.
Tianjin Customs offers a 'supervised factory loading, direct loading on port arrival' model: stuffing is supervised at the factory, the box enters the port in a booked slot and is loaded directly. Whether a given shipment can use it depends on the customs arrangement for the exporter and the port slot; we check both when you book.
