From Tianjin to Banjarmasin, cargo moves through Tianjin, with its Beijiang and Dongjiang terminals on the Bohai Bay, crosses a Southeast Asian sea passage with no canal on the way, and is discharged at the port of Banjarmasin.
In Indonesia the carrier files the manifest before unloading and primary cells need SNI certification. This page sets out 5 points specific to this route, how Anxin handles each one and which documents to prepare.
What we need to start
Route profile
North China's main container gateway, where Tianjin Customs lets DG containers be inspected at the factory and loaded on arrival within a booked port slot, and where the Bohai Bay freezes at its edges in mid-winter.
Indonesia's carrier filings come before unloading; the importer handles SNI and any used-goods approval.

Where this route gets difficult
Listed from loading in Tianjin to import into Indonesia, each with what we do about it.
Tianjin Customs runs a 'supervised factory loading, direct loading on port arrival' model for dangerous goods: officers oversee stuffing at the factory, the declaration goes in early through the single window, and the container enters the port in a slot booked on the customs–port platform and goes straight to the ship. Any inspection happens in closed yards inside the Beijiang and Dongjiang terminals. The time saved depends on the stuffing date, the slot and the declared data all matching.
What Anxin does: We fix the stuffing date against the vessel's DG cut-off first, then book the entry slot, and check that the declaration, the packing certificate and the container number agree before the truck leaves, so the box is not diverted to an inspection yard for a data mismatch.
Sea ice forms every winter in the Bohai Sea, and the Haihe estuary at Tianjin is among the severe areas. In winter 2021/22 China's national marine forecast centre expected the peak ice period from mid-January to mid-February, with floating ice reaching about 5 nautical miles out in Bohai Bay. Ice and cold spells slow port operations around the Chinese New Year shipping peak.
What Anxin does: For January and February sailings from Tianjin we add slack between stuffing and the DG cut-off and confirm the vessel's berthing window with the carrier the week before loading.
Routes to Banjarmasin pass through the Sulu and Celebes Seas, where ReCAAP's advisory on the abduction of crew remains in force. The threat level has been LOW since January 2025, after no incidents since 2020, but ships are still told to keep a sharp lookout and report to the Philippine and Eastern Sabah security centres.
What Anxin does: We ask the carrier whether it routes this service through the Sulu and Celebes Seas or around them, and note the answer on the booking so the consignee knows what to expect.
Since 20 May 2025 primary batteries sold in Indonesia must be SNI-certified and marked (Permenperin 69/2024). A consignment for Banjarmasin that mixes lithium-ion packs with primary cells needs the certificate for the latter.
What Anxin does: When a shipment includes primary cells, we ask the importer for the SNI certificate and check the marking on carton photos before loading.
Permendag 25/2021 lists goods that must carry Indonesian-language labels when sold in Indonesia. Whether a battery product going to Banjarmasin is on the list should be checked by the importer before the retail packaging is printed.
What Anxin does: For retail-packed goods we ask the importer to confirm the labelling requirement before production is packed in Tianjin.

Documents & compliance
Test reports, safety data sheets and import certificates come from the shipper, factory and importer, not from Anxin; our part is to review them before booking.

Most delays on this route start with a document that exists but does not match: a UN number, a model name or a package count that differs between the Tianjin filings, the carrier booking and the Indonesia import file. We check the three against each other before the booking is confirmed.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Box sent to the terminal inspection yard because declared data do not match | Beijiang / Dongjiang terminals | Declaration, packing certificate and container number cross-checked before trucking | Anxin |
| Ice or cold spell slows berthing in mid-winter | Bohai Bay, Jan–Feb | Slack between stuffing and cut-off; berthing window reconfirmed | Carrier, monitored by Anxin |
Questions
The arrival notice goes in at least 24 hours before arrival for voyages of 24 hours or more, and the inward manifest before unloading.
It waits or moves to the next vessel. The dangerous goods declaration has to be refiled for that vessel, which is why we check DG acceptance for a back-up sailing in typhoon months.
Tianjin Customs offers a 'supervised factory loading, direct loading on port arrival' model: stuffing is supervised at the factory, the box enters the port in a booked slot and is loaded directly. Whether a given shipment can use it depends on the customs arrangement for the exporter and the port slot; we check both when you book.
