Lithium batteries for Skoldvik go through Tianjin, with its Beijiang and Dongjiang terminals on the Bohai Bay. On the way they face a Suez-or-Cape voyage that ends with the Danish straits and the Baltic, and they arrive at the port of Skoldvik.
The Finnish side adds producer registration to the EU battery rules. The 5 points below are particular to this lane; each comes with what we do and the paperwork it touches.
What we need to start
Route profile
North China's main container gateway, where Tianjin Customs lets DG containers be inspected at the factory and loaded on arrival within a booked port slot, and where the Bohai Bay freezes at its edges in mid-winter.
The national producer register at the Finnish Supervisory Agency, a Finnish authorised representative for distance sellers, and the EU-wide battery and ICS2 duties.

Where this route gets difficult
Loading port first, then the sea leg, then Skoldvik and the Finland market.
Under Tianjin Customs' 'supervised factory loading, direct loading on port arrival' model, officers supervise stuffing at the factory, the declaration is lodged early through the single window, and the box enters the port in a slot booked on the customs–port platform before going straight to the ship; inspections take place in closed yards at the Beijiang and Dongjiang terminals. The gain holds only if stuffing date, slot and declared data agree.
What Anxin does: We fix the stuffing date against the vessel's DG cut-off first, then book the entry slot, and check that the declaration, the packing certificate and the container number agree before the truck leaves, so the box is not diverted to an inspection yard for a data mismatch.
Every winter Finland's Transport Infrastructure Agency sets traffic restrictions for its ports: only ships of a stated ice class and deadweight get icebreaker assistance. Exemption requests must be in at least three working days before arrival, and the restrictions for the Baltic are published on baltice.org. A feeder without the right ice class may not be allowed to call at Skoldvik in the restriction period.
What Anxin does: For winter shipments we check the restrictions in force on baltice.org for Skoldvik and ask the carrier to confirm that the final feeder has the required ice class before we book.
For Skoldvik, EU security pre-filing happens at the other end of the voyage: the ICS2 entry summary must reach the system 24 hours before the container is loaded in Tianjin. No filing means no loading, and a missing EORI number is enough to reject it.
What Anxin does: We collect the consignee's EORI number, an HS-level goods description and the house-bill parties at booking, and make sure the party filing the ENS has them before the Tianjin cut-off.
Two marking dates fall into current shipping plans for Finland: the general label from 18 August 2026 and the QR code from 18 February 2027, which for EV, LMT and larger industrial batteries has to open the battery passport.
What Anxin does: Before booking we ask the Finland importer to confirm the battery category and whether the label and QR-code elements are already on the goods, and compare carton photos with that answer.
A battery entering Finland has to identify its importer: name, registered trade name or trade mark, postal address and a contact point belong on the battery itself, or on the packaging or accompanying document when the battery is too small. That text is fixed at the factory, not at Skoldvik.
What Anxin does: We pass the Finland importer's name and address block to the manufacturer before the goods are packed in China and check carton or battery photos for it before loading.

Documents & compliance
Test reports, safety data sheets and import certificates come from the shipper, factory and importer, not from Anxin; our part is to review them before booking.

We line up UN numbers, model names and package counts across the Tianjin filings, the booking with the carrier and the documents for Finland before the booking is confirmed, so that a mismatch is fixed at origin rather than discovered at Skoldvik.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Box sent to the terminal inspection yard because declared data do not match | Beijiang / Dongjiang terminals | Declaration, packing certificate and container number cross-checked before trucking | Anxin |
| Feeder lacks the ice class required under winter restrictions | Northern Baltic, winter | Ice class confirmed at booking | Carrier, checked by Anxin |
| ENS not filed and the box is refused at loading | Loading port, Tianjin | EORI and house-bill data passed to the filer at booking | Filer (carrier / forwarder) |
| Stock shipped without the label due from August 2026 | Importer in Finland | Label status confirmed before booking | Manufacturer / importer |
Questions
The importer's: name, registered trade name or trade mark and postal address with a contact point, on the battery or, if it is too small, on the packaging or accompanying document.
Often, but it depends on the service. The Baltic is reached through the Danish straits, and we ask the carrier to name any transhipment port and confirm DG acceptance for each vessel.
Tianjin Customs offers a 'supervised factory loading, direct loading on port arrival' model: stuffing is supervised at the factory, the box enters the port in a booked slot and is loaded directly. Whether a given shipment can use it depends on the customs arrangement for the exporter and the port slot; we check both when you book.
