This route runs from North China through Tianjin Xingang, then follows a long voyage ending in the North Atlantic or the Gulf of St Lawrence; at the far end is the port of Iqaluit.
On the Canadian side the carrier's eManifest is due before loading and the road leg follows TDG conditions. This page sets out 5 points specific to this route, how Anxin handles each one and which documents to prepare.

Route profile
The last leg crosses the North Atlantic or enters the Gulf of St Lawrence, with an icebreaking season from December to May and hurricane-force winter storms peaking in January.
Canada checks the carrier's eManifest before loading, the importer's CARM security at release and, for consumer goods, bilingual labels.

Where this route gets difficult
They run from the Tianjin terminal through the voyage to Iqaluit and the Canada import file.
Every winter the Bohai Sea ices over, and the Haihe estuary at Tianjin is one of the harder-hit areas. For 2021/22 the national marine forecast centre put the peak ice period between mid-January and mid-February, with floating ice about 5 nautical miles out in Bohai Bay. Ice and cold slow port work just as the Chinese New Year peak arrives.
What Anxin does: For January and February sailings from Tianjin we add slack between stuffing and the DG cut-off and confirm the vessel's berthing window with the carrier the week before loading.
Tianjin Customs runs a 'supervised factory loading, direct loading on port arrival' model for dangerous goods: officers oversee stuffing at the factory, the declaration goes in early through the single window, and the container enters the port in a slot booked on the customs–port platform and goes straight to the ship. Any inspection happens in closed yards inside the Beijiang and Dongjiang terminals. The time saved depends on the stuffing date, the slot and the declared data all matching.
What Anxin does: We fix the stuffing date against the vessel's DG cut-off first, then book the entry slot, and check that the declaration, the packing certificate and the container number agree before the truck leaves, so the box is not diverted to an inspection yard for a data mismatch.
NOAA's Ocean Prediction Center has recorded hurricane-force mid-latitude storms in the North Atlantic from October to April, most often in January. The final leg to Iqaluit crosses those waters.
What Anxin does: For winter sailings we check blocking and bracing on stuffing photos before sealing.
Under s. 14 of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, an importer that learns of a health or safety incident involving a consumer product must tell Health Canada and its supplier within two days, and file a written report within ten. For battery products sold in Canada, the Chinese supplier's test and batch data are needed quickly.
What Anxin does: We make sure the importer has the manufacturer's contact, batch identifiers and test reports on file with each shipment, so an incident report can be made on time.
TDG Regulations s. 9.3 let an international consignment move by road to or from Iqaluit under IMDG classification, marks, labels and documents. The shipping document must still be legible in English or French and show a 24-hour telephone number, and a container must carry placards under TDG Part 4 or the IMDG Code.
What Anxin does: We check that the DG declaration is in English, carries a 24-hour number that the consignee has arranged and matches the container's placards before the documents go to the Canadian trucker.

Documents & compliance
Anxin reviews documents supplied by the shipper, manufacturer and importer; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

We line up UN numbers, model names and package counts across the Tianjin filings, the booking with the carrier and the documents for Canada before the booking is confirmed, so that a mismatch is fixed at origin rather than discovered at Iqaluit.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Box sent to the terminal inspection yard because declared data do not match | Beijiang / Dongjiang terminals | Declaration, packing certificate and container number cross-checked before trucking | Anxin |
| Ice or cold spell slows berthing in mid-winter | Bohai Bay, Jan–Feb | Slack between stuffing and cut-off; berthing window reconfirmed | Carrier, monitored by Anxin |
| Stack damage in a winter storm | North Atlantic, Oct–Apr | CINS stuffing checks | Packing site, checked by Anxin |
Questions
Only if the importer is enrolled in release prior to payment with financial security posted in the CARM Client Portal. Since 20 May 2025, importers without security pay duties and taxes at release.
NOAA's storm study found hurricane-force winter storms from October to April, most often in January.
Tianjin Customs offers a 'supervised factory loading, direct loading on port arrival' model: stuffing is supervised at the factory, the box enters the port in a booked slot and is loaded directly. Whether a given shipment can use it depends on the customs arrangement for the exporter and the port slot; we check both when you book.
