Lithium batteries for Hamad Port go from Dongguan and Shenzhen factories via Yantian, where the one-box route had moved 409 battery containers by September 2026. On the way they face a corridor across the Arabian Sea and, for Gulf ports, through Hormuz, and they arrive at a port where every IMDG container needs Mwani Qatar's pre-approval, requested by the shipping line.
On the Qatari side the importer needs a Ministry-registered import licence and every carton must say where it was made. Below are 5 route-specific points to plan for, what we do about each, and the documents to have ready before booking.
What we need to start
Route profile
Pearl River Delta battery cargo, often stuffed at factories in Dongguan or Huizhou, exported through Yantian or Shekou, with a typhoon season from June to October.
Dangerous goods accepted only after Mwani Qatar's pre-approval, requested by the shipping line, with direct delivery subject to the line's undertaking.

Where this route gets difficult
Loading port first, then the sea leg, then Hamad Port and the Qatar market.
The Hong Kong Observatory puts the regional tropical cyclone season from June to October, busiest July to September. DG containers need their MSA filings approved and a signed packing certificate before loading, so a closed gate or a rolled vessel in typhoon weeks can push the whole document chain to a new sailing.
What Anxin does: From June to October we build slack into the stuffing date, confirm the DG cut-off with the carrier the week before loading, and resubmit filings promptly if the vessel changes.
Sailings between June and September cross the Arabian Sea during India's southwest monsoon, when rough seas and squalls regularly disrupt port operations along the route and test how well the cargo is secured inside the container.
What Anxin does: For June–September sailings we check blocking and bracing strictly on stuffing photos and allow for schedule slippage in the delivery plan.
Hamad Port accepts dangerous goods only after pre-coordination with and approval by Mwani Qatar, and all IMDG cargo is subject to a pre-approval request from the shipping line or its agent. The request can only be as good as the DG data the line holds, so a class 9 container booked late or with wrong details can miss the approval for its vessel.
What Anxin does: We give the carrier final DG data (UN number, class, packages, weight) at booking so its pre-approval request for Hamad Port can go in early.
Qatar requires 'Country of origin' or 'Made in' marking on each piece, on materials and on cartons, and the marking must match the invoice and certificate of origin. Any discrepancy can send the shipment back. For batteries that means the cells or packs themselves, not only the outer carton, need the mark.
What Anxin does: We ask the factory for photos of the origin mark on the battery, its retail box and the shipping carton, and compare them with the invoice and certificate before stuffing in Shenzhen.
For Hamad Port, Qatar Customs will not clear a sea shipment that lacks an official invoice, an official certificate of origin and a packing list, and the HS code has to be written on both the invoice and the certificate. Without them the container is returned to origin.
What Anxin does: We make sure the HS code appears on both the invoice and the certificate of origin, and that all three documents list the same goods, before the ship leaves Shenzhen.

Documents & compliance
These documents come from the shipper, the manufacturer and the importer. Anxin checks them against each other; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

Most delays on this route start with a document that exists but does not match: a UN number, a model name or a package count that differs between the Shenzhen filings, the carrier booking and the Qatar import file. We check the three against each other before the booking is confirmed.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typhoon closes terminals or delays the vessel after filings are made | Yantian / Shekou, Jun–Oct | Slack in stuffing date; refile quickly on vessel change | Anxin with the declarant |
| Monsoon seas cause cargo shift or delays | Arabian Sea, Jun–Sep | CINS stuffing checks; slack in the delivery plan | Packing site / carrier |
| Pre-approval not obtained for the planned vessel | Hamad Port | DG data to the line at booking | Carrier / agent |
| Container returned to origin for missing documents | Qatar Customs | Invoice, certificate and packing list cross-checked before departure | Shipper / Anxin |
Questions
Yes. 'Made in' or country-of-origin marking is required on each piece, on materials and on cartons, and must match the documents.
Between June and September India's southwest monsoon brings rough seas and squalls to the Arabian Sea that regularly disrupt port operations, so we check blocking and bracing on the stuffing photos and allow slack in the delivery plan.
Since September 2026 Dongguan Customs and Dongguan MSA share dangerous-goods packaging certificate data and act jointly against false declarations, so the packaging certificate and the MSA filing should match exactly.
