This route runs out of Shenzhen's Yantian and Shekou terminals, then follows an approach through Bab-el-Mandeb into one of the world's warmest seas; at the far end is the port of Sokhna.
Egyptian customs will not unload a bill of lading without an ACID number. Below are 5 route-specific points to plan for, what we do about each, and the documents to have ready before booking.
What we need to start
Route profile
The drawn corridor enters the Red Sea through Bab-el-Mandeb, where Saudi-linked shipping was being threatened in September 2026, and ends in one of the warmest seas in the world.
For Egypt the exporter's CargoX account and the importer's ACID number matter as much as the DG paperwork.

Where this route gets difficult
In the order the cargo meets them: at the loading port, at sea, at Sokhna and at customs in Egypt.
Dongguan, home to more than 500 battery companies, supplies much of the cargo leaving Shenzhen. Since September 2026 Dongguan Customs and Dongguan MSA share dangerous-goods packaging certificate data, described as a first in China, and act jointly against concealed and false declarations; the one-box route to Yantian, 409 containers by then, relies on the same record.
What Anxin does: We compare the packaging certificate with the MSA cargo report (UN number, packaging code, number of packages) before either goes in, so the shared data shows no gap.
A large share of Shenzhen's battery exports is stuffed inland and trucked to the quay. In a May 2026 cross-regional 'one-box' pilot, Yantian MSA and Dongguan MSA jointly inspected four battery containers at a Dongguan factory and loaded them at Yantian without reopening them, which shows that the factory inspection record is what counts at the terminal.
What Anxin does: We ask at booking whether your factory and the terminal's MSA office can use the one-box arrangement, and we have stuffing photos, the packing certificate and the DG declaration match exactly, so the container is not held for re-inspection.
The last leg to Sokhna runs through one of the world's warmest seas, and China MSA guidance asks for battery containers stowed on deck to be shaded from direct sun and kept clear of heat sources.
What Anxin does: We put the stowage request (shaded, away from heat) on the booking and in the DG declaration remarks.
Under ACI the foreign exporter, here the Chinese shipper, has to register and be verified on the CargoX platform, and for sea freight must upload the commercial invoice, bill of lading, packing list and certificate of origin at least 48 hours before the vessel arrives. A shipper that has never exported to Egypt needs time to complete that verification.
What Anxin does: We check with the shipper in Shenzhen that its CargoX account is verified before booking, and remind it to upload the document set as soon as the bill of lading is issued.
Since 22 July 2026 the Importers Register runs under Decree No. 271 of 2026: GOEIC decides within 15 days of a complete file, filing is going online, and foreign-owned companies have a limited, time-bound route in.
What Anxin does: We ask the Egyptian buyer to confirm its Importers Register status before we book the container for Sokhna.

Documents & compliance
These documents come from the shipper, the manufacturer and the importer. Anxin checks them against each other; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

A document that is present but inconsistent holds a booking as surely as a missing one: the UN number, model name or carton count reads differently in the Shenzhen export filings, the carrier booking and the Egypt import papers. We compare all three before confirming space.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Container reopened at the terminal because records do not match | Factory → Yantian | Photos, packing certificate and DG declaration cross-checked before trucking | Anxin |
| Packaging certificate and MSA filing disagree; shipment flagged | Dongguan → Yantian | Line-by-line comparison before filing | Anxin with the declarant |
| CargoX documents not uploaded in time | Egyptian Customs (ACI) | Upload reminder when the B/L is issued | Shipper |
Questions
Register and be verified on CargoX, then upload the invoice, bill of lading, packing list and certificate of origin at least 48 hours before the vessel arrives.
Either through Bab-el-Mandeb, on the same vessel or after transhipment, or the long way round Africa and south through the Suez Canal. Container lines were being selective in September 2026, so we ask each carrier for its current routing and name it, with any risk surcharge, in the quote.
Since September 2026 Dongguan Customs and Dongguan MSA share dangerous-goods packaging certificate data and act jointly against false declarations, so the packaging certificate and the MSA filing should match exactly.
