From Shenzhen to Damietta, cargo moves out of Shenzhen's Yantian and Shekou terminals, crosses a Suez corridor that Mediterranean services are using again more than any other Asia–Europe lane, and is discharged at the port of Damietta.

On the Egyptian side the ACI system needs the exporter on CargoX and the documents uploaded before the ship arrives. Below are 5 route-specific points to plan for, what we do about each, and the documents to have ready before booking.

What we need to start

  • Yantian / Shekou export
  • Typhoon season Jun–Oct
  • Exporter verified on CargoX
  • Importers Register entry (GOEIC)
  • ACID number on the B/L

Route profile

The Shenzhen → Damietta route in brief

Origin port

Shenzhen (Yantian / Shekou)

Pearl River Delta battery cargo, often stuffed at factories in Dongguan or Huizhou, exported through Yantian or Shekou, with a typhoon season from June to October.

Import country

Egypt

For Egypt the exporter's CargoX account and the importer's ACID number matter as much as the DG paperwork.

Where this route gets difficult

5 points to plan for on the Shenzhen → Damietta route

Loading port first, then the sea leg, then Damietta and the Egypt market.

  1. Origin port

Factory stuffing in Dongguan, loading at Yantian: avoid a second opening

Much Shenzhen battery export is stuffed inland and trucked to the terminal. In May 2026 Yantian MSA and Dongguan MSA ran a cross-regional 'one-box' pilot: four battery containers were inspected jointly at the Dongguan factory and loaded at Yantian without being opened again. It shows that the inspection record made at the factory is what matters at the terminal.

What Anxin does: We ask at booking whether your factory and the terminal's MSA office can use the one-box arrangement, and we have stuffing photos, the packing certificate and the DG declaration match exactly, so the container is not held for re-inspection.

  2. Origin port

Packaging certificates are now visible to both customs and MSA

Much of Shenzhen's battery cargo is made in Dongguan, home to more than 500 battery firms. In September 2026 Dongguan Customs and Dongguan MSA began sharing dangerous-goods packaging certificate data, described as a first in China, and committed to joint action against concealed and false declarations. The one-box route to Yantian, which had moved 409 containers by then, rests on that same record.

What Anxin does: We compare the packaging certificate with the MSA cargo report (UN number, packaging code, number of packages) before either goes in, so the shared data shows no gap.

  3. Sea corridor

    The round-Africa alternative

Services that avoid the Red Sea, 43% of the Mediterranean total, go round the Cape of Good Hope and re-enter through Gibraltar. SAMSA estimates that about 200 of the 576 containers lost at sea in 2024, 35% of the total, went overboard near the Cape.

What Anxin does: On Cape sailings we apply the CINS blocking and bracing checks strictly on stuffing photos before sealing.

  4. Import country

No ACID on the bill of lading, no unloading

Egypt's Advance Cargo Information system needs a 19-digit ACID number, obtained by the Egyptian importer on Nafeza before the cargo leaves Shenzhen, on every shipping document including the bill of lading. Customs' own guidance is blunt: bills of lading without an ACID are not unloaded, and the goods are re-shipped out of Egypt at the carrier's expense.

What Anxin does: We do not release a booking for Damietta until the importer has sent the ACID number, and we check it appears on the bill of lading draft, invoice and packing list.

  5. Import country

The broker needs a registered power of attorney or a Nafeza authorisation

Under Customs Law No. 207 of 2020 and its Executive Regulations, a broker can only clear a private-sector shipment in Egypt with an official power of attorney through the Real Estate Registry or an electronic authorisation on Nafeza. Without it the broker at Damietta cannot act for the importer, however complete the ACI file is.

What Anxin does: We ask the importer which broker will clear the container and whether its Nafeza authorisation is in place before the ship arrives.

Documents & compliance

Checklist for Shenzhen → Damietta

Anxin reviews documents supplied by the shipper, manufacturer and importer; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

In Shenzhen, before the box is loaded

  • Confirmation from the carrier of the DG cut-off at Yantian or Shekou, rechecked in typhoon weeks
  • Transport-condition classification report where applicable
  • Load plan showing even weight distribution (no more than 60% of the cargo weight in either half of the container length)
  • ACID number from the importer, printed on B/L draft, invoice and packing list
  • Shipper's CargoX account verified; documents uploaded 48 h before arrival

Carrier and voyage

  • Routing (Red Sea or Cape) and any war-risk surcharge stated on the booking
  • UN 38.3 test summary for every cell and battery type
  • Dangerous goods declaration with UN number (3480 / 3481 / 3090 / 3091), proper shipping name and packing instruction (P903, or P908/P911 for damaged)

For import into Egypt

  • Broker's power of attorney or Nafeza e-authorisation
  • Importers Register status (GOEIC)

Before you book

Send the file once, complete

Most delays on this route start with a document that exists but does not match: a UN number, a model name or a package count that differs between the Shenzhen filings, the carrier booking and the Egypt import file. We check the three against each other before the booking is confirmed.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions

Common questions on the Shenzhen → Damietta route

Register and be verified on CargoX, then upload the invoice, bill of lading, packing list and certificate of origin at least 48 hours before the vessel arrives.

Often: in September 2026, 57% of Asia–Mediterranean services used the Red Sea routing. Bab el-Mandeb was rated a SUBSTANTIAL threat by the JMIC on 24 September 2026, so we confirm each service's routing before booking.

Yes, provided a certified packing inspector supervises the stuffing and signs the container packing certificate. Since May 2026 Yantian and Dongguan MSA have also piloted joint factory inspection so the container can be loaded at Yantian without reopening; we check whether your shipment can use it.
