This route runs through Ningbo-Zhoushan, where Zhejiang MSA's guide sets a 60% weight-balance test for battery containers, then follows a long Europe voyage extended through the Danish straits into the Baltic; at the far end is the port of Karlshamn.
Sweden has required producer registration with Naturvårdsverket since January 2026. This page sets out 5 points specific to this route, how Anxin handles each one and which documents to prepare.
What we need to start
Route profile
Beilun and Meishan exports under Zhejiang MSA's January 2026 battery guide, which trims duplicate filings but not the carrier's own document checks.
The Baltic is reached only through the Danish straits, where deep-draught ships are advised to take pilots, and its northern ports set ice-class restrictions every winter.

Where this route gets difficult
They run from the Ningbo terminal through the voyage to Karlshamn and the Sweden import file.
Zhejiang MSA's January 2026 battery guide lets the shipper skip the UN38.3 test summary at the MSA cargo-report stage (it goes to the carrier instead) and skip resubmitting the safety data sheet for the same maker, owner and model. The carrier, however, must still check the documents and refuse batteries that do not meet the ship-carriage standard JT/T 1543-2025.
What Anxin does: We send the UN38.3 summary and SDS to the carrier with the booking request, and keep a per-model file so repeat shipments use the SDS already on record.
Every box for Karlshamn passes the Danish straits, where IMO recommends pilotage on Route T for ships with a draught of 11 m or more and the Danish Maritime Authority reports non-compliant ships to their flag state. If the container is moved to a feeder at a North Sea port, that second vessel must also accept the UN numbers.
What Anxin does: We ask the carrier to name any transhipment port and the feeder operator on the booking and confirm DG acceptance for that leg as well as the mainline.
The importer in Sweden carries the check: CE marking on the battery and an EU declaration of conformity, translated into the language Sweden asks for, have both been required since 18 August 2024 for batteries entering the EU market.
What Anxin does: We ask the manufacturer in China for the declaration of conformity and a photo of the CE marking on the battery or its packaging before loading, and pass them to the Sweden importer. We check that the documents exist and match the goods; we do not assess conformity.
For Karlshamn, EU security pre-filing happens at the other end of the voyage: the ICS2 entry summary must reach the system 24 hours before the container is loaded in Ningbo. No filing means no loading, and a missing EORI number is enough to reject it.
What Anxin does: We collect the consignee's EORI number, an HS-level goods description and the house-bill parties at booking, and make sure the party filing the ENS has them before the Ningbo cut-off.
Sweden's supplementary ordinance to the Battery Regulation (SFS 2025:813) has required battery producers to be registered with Naturvårdsverket since 1 January 2026. A producer responsibility organisation such as El-Kretsen can help with the filing, but the data remain the producer's responsibility.
What Anxin does: We ask the Swedish importer to confirm the registration is in place before booking, and pass on battery chemistry and weight data it may need for reporting.

Documents & compliance
Test reports, safety data sheets and import certificates come from the shipper, factory and importer, not from Anxin; our part is to review them before booking.

Most delays on this route start with a document that exists but does not match: a UN number, a model name or a package count that differs between the Ningbo filings, the carrier booking and the Sweden import file. We check the three against each other before the booking is confirmed.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carrier rejects booking over UN38.3 / JT/T 1543-2025 documents | Ningbo booking stage | UN38.3 summary and SDS sent with the booking request | Shipper with Anxin |
| Feeder operator does not accept the UN numbers | North Sea hub | DG acceptance for the feeder leg confirmed | Anxin with the carrier |
| Producer not yet registered with Naturvårdsverket | Importer in Sweden | Registration confirmed before booking | Importer |
| Declaration of conformity missing or not in the required language | Importer in Sweden | Declaration and CE photo collected before loading | Manufacturer / importer |
Questions
The importer's: name, registered trade name or trade mark and postal address with a contact point, on the battery or, if it is too small, on the packaging or accompanying document.
Often, but it depends on the service. The Baltic is reached through the Danish straits, and we ask the carrier to name any transhipment port and confirm DG acceptance for each vessel.
Yes. Zhejiang MSA's 2026 guide removed it from the MSA cargo-report stage, but it still has to go to the carrier, which must refuse batteries that do not meet JT/T 1543-2025.
