From Ningbo to Incheon, cargo moves through Ningbo's Beilun or Meishan terminals under Zhejiang MSA's 2026 battery guide, crosses an intra-Asia passage with no canal or chokepoint, and is discharged at the port of Incheon.

In Korea the manifest is filed before the ship leaves China and DG are reported to the port authority. This page sets out 6 points specific to this route, how Anxin handles each one and which documents to prepare.

What we need to start

  • Beilun / Meishan export
  • Zhejiang MSA battery guide 2026

Route profile

The Ningbo → Incheon route in brief

Origin port

Ningbo-Zhoushan (Beilun / Meishan)

Beilun and Meishan exports under Zhejiang MSA's January 2026 battery guide, which trims duplicate filings but not the carrier's own document checks.

Sea corridor

Intra-Asia

A short-sea Asian route with no canal or chokepoint, where typhoons in summer and the north-east monsoon in winter set the pace.

Where this route gets difficult

6 pain points from Ningbo to Incheon

They run from the Ningbo terminal through the voyage to Incheon and the South Korea import file.

  1. Origin port

    Zhejiang's weight-balance and stowage rules

Zhejiang MSA's January 2026 battery guide sets a concrete loading test: no half of the container's length may carry more than 60% of the cargo weight, and packages must be braced. On board, deck stowage should be inside fire-fighting coverage and shaded from direct sun, and under-deck stowage in holds with temperature probes.

What Anxin does: We ask for the load plan before stuffing and check the 60% split on the stuffing photos, and we pass the shading and away-from-heat stowage request to the carrier on the booking.

  2. Origin port

Ningbo drops two MSA papers, carriers still check them

Since Zhejiang MSA's January 2026 battery guide, a Ningbo shipper no longer attaches the UN38.3 test summary at the MSA cargo-report stage (the carrier receives it instead) and does not resubmit the safety data sheet for an unchanged maker, owner and model. Carriers must still review the documents and turn away batteries that fail the ship-carriage standard JT/T 1543-2025.

What Anxin does: We send the UN38.3 summary and SDS to the carrier with the booking request, and keep a per-model file so repeat shipments use the SDS already on record.

  3. Sea corridor

Yellow Sea fog, April to July

The China Meteorological Administration describes sea fog as a major marine hazard in the Yellow and Bohai Seas, mainly from April to July. Short Yellow Sea crossings are the ones most exposed: a fog hold at either end can move the box to a later vessel, and the DG filings with it.

What Anxin does: In fog season we leave slack between stuffing and the DG cut-off and keep the filing data ready to amend.

  4. Import country

A dangerous goods report before the ship arrives

Korean law requires dangerous goods brought into a trade port to be reported to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, 24 hours ahead or, on a voyage under 24 hours, before entry; Class 9 is included. Shippers and forwarders must pass the DG details to whoever reports, so the report for Incheon depends on the data from Ningbo.

What Anxin does: We give the carrier's agent the UN number, class, packing group and quantity at booking, which is what the DG report for Incheon needs.

  5. Import country

KC safety confirmation for lithium-ion batteries

Lithium-ion secondary batteries fall under KC safety confirmation in Korea: cells and packs are tested, and batteries for portable devices are tested to KC 62133-2. Batteries arriving at Incheon for sale need the importer's KC confirmation in place.

What Anxin does: We ask the Korean importer for its KC confirmation number for each model before the goods are packed in Ningbo.

  6. Import country

    UNI-PASS requirement confirmation comes first

In Korea the customs broker files a requirement confirmation for KC-regulated products in UNI-PASS before the import declaration. For batteries arriving at Incheon, the model's KC documents have to be ready by then.

What Anxin does: We ask the importer's customs broker to confirm the UNI-PASS requirement filing is ready before the container reaches Incheon.

Documents & compliance

What to have ready: Ningbo to Incheon

These documents come from the shipper, the manufacturer and the importer. Anxin checks them against each other; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

In Ningbo, before the box is loaded

  • UN38.3 test summary for the carrier (not required at the Zhejiang MSA cargo-report stage)
  • Load plan showing no half of the container carries more than 60% of the weight
  • Container packing certificate signed by a certified packing inspector after supervised stuffing
  • Transport-condition classification report where applicable
  • Load plan showing even weight distribution (no more than 60% of the cargo weight in either half of the container length)

For the shipping line

  • Final DG data for the KAMS manifest before departure
  • UN number, class and quantity for the MOF dangerous goods report
  • UN 38.3 test summary for every cell and battery type

For the importer in South Korea

  • KC safety confirmation for each battery model

Send the file once, complete

Most delays on this route start with a document that exists but does not match: a UN number, a model name or a package count that differs between the Ningbo filings, the carrier booking and the South Korea import file. We check the three against each other before the booking is confirmed.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions

Ningbo → Incheon: questions we are asked

Yes. Dangerous goods, Class 9 included, are reported to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries 24 hours ahead, or before entry on a voyage under 24 hours.

Typhoons occur all year in the western North Pacific, but most in August and September: the Japan Meteorological Agency's 1991–2020 averages are 5.7 and 5.0 typhoons in those months.

Zhejiang MSA's 2026 guide says the cargo weight in any half of the container's length should not exceed 60% of the total, with every package braced and checked for damage and marks.
