From Ningbo to Karachi, cargo moves through Ningbo-Zhoushan, crosses the Indian Ocean monsoon corridor, and is discharged at the port of Karachi.
In Pakistan the Goods Declaration goes through the Single Window with an electronic PSQCA release. The 5 points below are particular to this lane; each comes with what we do and the paperwork it touches.
What we need to start
Route profile
Beilun and Meishan exports under Zhejiang MSA's January 2026 battery guide, which trims duplicate filings but not the carrier's own document checks.
An Indian Ocean crossing whose season depends on the side: the southwest monsoon and two cyclone seasons in the north, a November–April cyclone season in the south-west, and piracy off Somalia.

Where this route gets difficult
In the order the cargo meets them: at the loading port, at sea, at Karachi and at customs in Pakistan.
Zhejiang MSA's January 2026 battery guide sets a concrete loading test: no half of the container's length may carry more than 60% of the cargo weight, and packages must be braced. On board, deck stowage should be inside fire-fighting coverage and shaded from direct sun, and under-deck stowage in holds with temperature probes.
What Anxin does: We ask for the load plan before stuffing and check the 60% split on the stuffing photos, and we pass the shading and away-from-heat stowage request to the carrier on the booking.
For battery cargo moving water-to-water, Zhejiang MSA applies a 'one-document' rule: when the cargo report is filed at the loading port, the transhipment port only needs a ship report. Batteries barged into Ningbo can skip a second cargo report, as long as the first was correct.
What Anxin does: When cargo starts on a feeder or barge, we make sure the cargo report is filed at the first port of loading and carries the ocean routing, so no second cargo report is needed at Ningbo.
The India Meteorological Department recognises two cyclone seasons in the North Indian Ocean, April to May and, the main one, October to December. A storm near Karachi closes the port or holds ships at anchor, and the arrival slips accordingly.
What Anxin does: For sailings in those months we plan delivery with slack at Karachi and confirm the carrier's revised arrival before booking onward transport.
PSQCA lists portable lithium-ion batteries (PCT 8507.6000) as compulsory items. Without PSQCA certification they cannot be cleared at Karachi, so the importer should have it in place before the goods leave Ningbo.
What Anxin does: We ask the importer for its PSQCA certification for the models shipped before we book the container.
For compulsory items the Goods Declaration is lodged in the Pakistan Single Window and cleared with an electronic PSQCA release order. The descriptions on the declaration and the certification must match the goods arriving at Karachi.
What Anxin does: We keep model numbers and descriptions identical across invoice, packing list and bill of lading, so the PSW declaration matches the PSQCA release.

Documents & compliance
These documents come from the shipper, the manufacturer and the importer. Anxin checks them against each other; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

A document that is present but inconsistent holds a booking as surely as a missing one: the UN number, model name or carton count reads differently in the Ningbo export filings, the carrier booking and the Pakistan import papers. We compare all three before confirming space.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uneven load rejected at the Ningbo packing check | Beilun / Meishan stuffing | Load plan checked before stuffing | Packing site, checked by Anxin |
| Cyclone closes the port or delays arrival | North Indian Ocean, Apr–May and Oct–Dec | Slack in delivery plan | Carrier / consignee |
| Batteries held without PSQCA certification | Karachi / Port Qasim | Certification checked before booking | Importer |
Questions
Portable lithium-ion batteries (PCT 8507.6000) are on PSQCA's compulsory list and need certification.
The India Meteorological Department describes two North Indian Ocean seasons, April–May and October–December, the latter being the main one.
Zhejiang MSA's 2026 guide says the cargo weight in any half of the container's length should not exceed 60% of the total, with every package braced and checked for damage and marks.
