Lithium batteries for Klaipeda go through Ningbo's Beilun or Meishan terminals under Zhejiang MSA's 2026 battery guide. On the way they face a long Europe voyage extended through the Danish straits into the Baltic, and they arrive at the port of Klaipeda.
The Lithuania side follows the EU battery and customs pre-filing rules. This page sets out 5 points specific to this route, how Anxin handles each one and which documents to prepare.
What we need to start
Route profile
Beilun and Meishan exports under Zhejiang MSA's January 2026 battery guide, which trims duplicate filings but not the carrier's own document checks.
The Baltic is reached only through the Danish straits, where deep-draught ships are advised to take pilots, and its northern ports set ice-class restrictions every winter.

Where this route gets difficult
In the order the cargo meets them: at the loading port, at sea, at Klaipeda and at customs in Lithuania.
Since Zhejiang MSA's January 2026 battery guide, a Ningbo shipper no longer attaches the UN38.3 test summary at the MSA cargo-report stage (the carrier receives it instead) and does not resubmit the safety data sheet for an unchanged maker, owner and model. Carriers must still review the documents and turn away batteries that fail the ship-carriage standard JT/T 1543-2025.
What Anxin does: We send the UN38.3 summary and SDS to the carrier with the booking request, and keep a per-model file so repeat shipments use the SDS already on record.
Up to the Danish straits the voyage matches North Europe's: Sea-Intelligence put Red Sea routing at 27% for North Europe services in September 2026, so most containers still sail round the Cape of Good Hope, where SAMSA estimates about 35% of the containers lost in 2024 went overboard.
What Anxin does: We quote the Suez and Cape routings separately when both are offered and apply the CINS stuffing checks strictly on Cape sailings.
An importer has to ensure that batteries are accompanied by instructions and safety information in a language that end-users in Lithuania can easily understand, as the Member State determines. Inserts and carton print are much simpler to adjust before packing in China.
What Anxin does: We ask the importer which language Lithuania requires and check carton and insert photos against it before loading.
Regulation (EU) 2025/1561 pushed the Battery Regulation's due diligence duties for cobalt, lithium, nickel and natural graphite back to 18 August 2027 and gave the Commission until 26 July 2026 for its guidelines. Buyers in Lithuania are already collecting the supply-chain information they will need.
What Anxin does: We pass the Lithuania buyer's due diligence questions to the manufacturer and keep their answers with the shipment file; the policy itself remains the producer's responsibility.
Article 11 of the Battery Regulation says that from 18 February 2027 portable batteries inside appliances must be readily removable and replaceable by the end-user using commercially available tools, without heat or solvents, except under limited derogations. Appliances sold in Lithuania after that date need a design that complies.
What Anxin does: When appliances with built-in batteries are booked for Lithuania we point the importer to the February 2027 date so the manufacturer answers the design question before shipment; we do not assess compliance.

Documents & compliance
These documents come from the shipper, the manufacturer and the importer. Anxin checks them against each other; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

We line up UN numbers, model names and package counts across the Ningbo filings, the booking with the carrier and the documents for Lithuania before the booking is confirmed, so that a mismatch is fixed at origin rather than discovered at Klaipeda.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions
The CE marking on the battery and the manufacturer's EU declaration of conformity, which must be available in the language Lithuania requires. Both have applied since 18 August 2024.
Often, but it depends on the service. The Baltic is reached through the Danish straits, and we ask the carrier to name any transhipment port and confirm DG acceptance for each vessel.
Yes. Zhejiang MSA's 2026 guide removed it from the MSA cargo-report stage, but it still has to go to the carrier, which must refuse batteries that do not meet JT/T 1543-2025.
