From Lianyungang to Trondheim, cargo moves through Lianyungang port, crosses a voyage that may run through Suez as drawn or round the Cape, depending on the service, and is discharged at the port of Trondheim.

The Norwegian side runs producer responsibility through approved return companies. This page sets out 5 points specific to this route, how Anxin handles each one and which documents to prepare.

The map shows the Suez corridor, but in September 2026 most Asia–North Europe capacity still sails round the Cape of Good Hope.

Where this route gets difficult

What to watch between Lianyungang and Trondheim: 5 points

They run from the Lianyungang terminal through the voyage to Trondheim and the Norway import file.

  1. Origin port

A shorter document list at Lianyungang, not a shorter check

Lianyungang MSA's Notice No. 1 of 2024 cut the materials for 'new three' cargo to four on the cargo side: the safe-carriage declaration, the inspector-signed packing certificate, the packaging inspection certificate where packaged, and a power of attorney. Fewer papers means each one carries more weight; the packing certificate still has to be signed by a certified inspector after supervised stuffing.

What Anxin does: We prepare the four cargo-side documents together and check that the packing certificate, the packaging certificate and the declaration describe the same UN numbers and quantities.

  2. Sea corridor

Suez on the map, the Cape on most sailings

The corridor on this page is drawn through Bab-el-Mandeb and the Suez Canal. In practice, Sea-Intelligence data for September 2026 put Red Sea routing on the Asia–Europe head-haul at 13–25%: 27% for services to North Europe and 57% for Mediterranean services. Which service calls at Trondheim decides whether the box goes through Suez or round the Cape of Good Hope, and the two routings differ in length, in the waters crossed and in the ports where a box might be transhipped.

What Anxin does: We ask the carrier to state the routing and any transhipment port on the booking confirmation, and we quote the two routings separately when both are on offer rather than mixing them.

  3. Import country

Norwegian battery marking and return-company membership

Until the EU rules reach Norway, battery marking follows the Norwegian product regulation: the crossed-out waste container symbol, Hg, Cd or Pb symbols above set thresholds, and capacity marking for certain battery types. The importer also has to belong to an approved battery return company under the waste regulation.

What Anxin does: We compare carton and battery photos against the Norwegian marking list before loading and ask the importer to confirm its return company.

  4. Import country

The EU Battery Regulation has not reached Norway yet

Because the EU Battery Regulation is not yet part of the EEA Agreement, it does not apply in Norway. Norway's existing rules and approved producer responsibility companies such as RENAS remain in place, and Miljødirektoratet consulted in April 2026 on the transition, so importers follow Norwegian rules now while tracking the new regulation.

What Anxin does: We ask the Norwegian importer which return company it belongs to, and do not assume EU-only paperwork covers the Norwegian market.

  5. Import country

ICS2 applies to Norway as well

Norway belongs to the EU customs security area under an agreement in force since 1 July 2009, so containers for Trondheim need the same ICS2 pre-notification as cargo for EU ports, and whoever files it needs an EORI number. Being outside the EU does not remove the pre-loading filing in Lianyungang.

What Anxin does: We collect the Norwegian consignee's details and an HS-level description at booking and make sure the ENS filer has them before the Lianyungang cut-off.

Documents & compliance

What to have ready: Lianyungang to Trondheim

Test reports, safety data sheets and import certificates come from the shipper, factory and importer, not from Anxin; our part is to review them before booking.

Before loading in Lianyungang

  • The four cargo-side documents under Lianyungang MSA Notice 2024 No. 1 prepared together and cross-checked
  • Safety data sheet and dangerous goods safe-carriage declaration for the MSA cargo report
  • Customs packaging use-appraisal result for the dangerous goods packaging (with the maker's performance appraisal)
  • Container packing certificate signed by a certified packing inspector after supervised stuffing
  • Transport-condition classification report where applicable

For the shipping line

  • Routing (Suez or Cape of Good Hope) and any transhipment port stated on the booking confirmation
  • UN 38.3 test summary for every cell and battery type
  • Dangerous goods declaration with UN number (3480 / 3481 / 3090 / 3091), proper shipping name and packing instruction (P903, or P908/P911 for damaged)

For import into Norway

  • Return company (producer responsibility) membership of the Norwegian importer
  • Norwegian haulier briefed with UN 3480 class 9 and tunnel code (E)
  • House consignment data for Digitoll and the TVINN declarant confirmed before arrival

Before you book

Match the details first

We line up UN numbers, model names and package counts across the Lianyungang filings, the booking with the carrier and the documents for Norway before the booking is confirmed, so that a mismatch is fixed at origin rather than discovered at Trondheim.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions

Lianyungang → Trondheim: questions we are asked

Not yet. It has not been incorporated into the EEA Agreement; existing Norwegian battery rules and approved producer responsibility companies continue until a new Norwegian regulation takes over.

It depends on the service. In September 2026 most Asia–North Europe capacity still sailed round the Cape of Good Hope; Sea-Intelligence put the Red Sea share for North Europe vessels at 27%. We ask the carrier to confirm the routing on the booking and quote each routing separately.

Under its Notice No. 1 of 2024, the cargo side submits the DG safe-carriage declaration, the inspector-signed packing certificate, the packaging inspection certificate where the goods are packaged, and a power of attorney.
