This route runs out of Lianyungang, where the MSA simplified 'new three' filings in 2024, then follows a Bab el-Mandeb and Suez passage into the Mediterranean; at the far end is the port of Beirut.

Lebanon clears on a SAD declaration backed by proof of payment, the sales contract and a delivery order. This page sets out 5 points specific to this route, how Anxin handles each one and which documents to prepare.

What we need to start

  • Fog season Apr–Jul
  • Lianyungang export
  • Proof of payment and sales contract
  • Social Security quietus (commercial importers)

Route profile

The Lianyungang → Beirut route in brief

Origin port

Lianyungang

Jiangsu's Yellow Sea port, with a simplified document list for 'new three' cargo since 2024 and its own guide for energy-storage units on break-bulk ships.

Sea corridor

Asia – Mediterranean via Suez

Mediterranean services are the ones most likely to use Suez again (57% in September 2026), which puts the cargo back through Bab el-Mandeb, rated a SUBSTANTIAL threat.

Where this route gets difficult

5 pain points from Lianyungang to Beirut

In the order the cargo meets them: at the loading port, at sea, at Beirut and at customs in Lebanon.

  1. Origin port

Yellow Sea fog from April to July

The China Meteorological Administration describes sea fog as a major marine hazard in the Yellow and Bohai Seas, mainly from April to July. At Lianyungang, as at Qingdao, fog can hold vessels at anchor, and a changed vessel means amended DG filings.

What Anxin does: In fog season we keep slack between stuffing and the DG cut-off and have the filing data ready to amend.

  2. Origin port

Four cargo-side documents at Lianyungang, each checked

Under Lianyungang MSA's Notice No. 1 of 2024 the cargo side of a 'new three' filing needs four items: safe-carriage declaration, packing certificate signed by an inspector, packaging inspection certificate where the goods are packaged, and a power of attorney. A shorter list puts more weight on each paper, and the packing certificate still requires a certified inspector after supervised stuffing.

What Anxin does: We prepare the four cargo-side documents together and check that the packing certificate, the packaging certificate and the declaration describe the same UN numbers and quantities.

  3. Sea corridor

    The round-Africa alternative

Services that avoid the Red Sea, 43% of the Mediterranean total, go round the Cape of Good Hope and re-enter through Gibraltar. SAMSA estimates that about 200 of the 576 containers lost at sea in 2024, 35% of the total, went overboard near the Cape.

What Anxin does: On Cape sailings we apply the CINS blocking and bracing checks strictly on stuffing photos before sealing.

  4. Import country

A Social Security quietus valid on the day of registration

Commercial and trade importers in Lebanon must present a quietus from the Social Security Office, confirming all dues are paid, that is still valid on the day the SAD declaration is registered. An expired quietus stops the declaration, however complete the shipping documents are.

What Anxin does: We remind the importer to check the quietus date against the vessel's arrival at Beirut when we send the shipping documents.

  5. Import country

Origin on the invoice, or a certificate of origin

Lebanese customs needs a certificate of origin issued in the exporting country whenever the commercial invoice does not state where the goods were made. Printing 'Made in China' on the invoice avoids an extra document.

What Anxin does: We state the country of origin on every commercial invoice for Beirut, and arrange a certificate of origin when the buyer asks for one.

Before you book

One consistent file

A document that is present but inconsistent holds a booking as surely as a missing one: the UN number, model name or carton count reads differently in the Lianyungang export filings, the carrier booking and the Lebanon import papers. We compare all three before confirming space.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions

Questions about shipping from Lianyungang to Beirut

A SAD-based declaration, bill of lading, packing list, original invoice, delivery order, proof of payment of the exact value and the contract of sale; commercial importers add a Social Security quietus.

Often: in September 2026, 57% of Asia–Mediterranean services used the Red Sea routing. Bab el-Mandeb was rated a SUBSTANTIAL threat by the JMIC on 24 September 2026, so we confirm each service's routing before booking.

Under its Notice No. 1 of 2024, the cargo side submits the DG safe-carriage declaration, the inspector-signed packing certificate, the packaging inspection certificate where the goods are packaged, and a power of attorney.
