Lithium batteries for Copenhagen go out of Lianyungang, where the MSA simplified 'new three' filings in 2024. On the way they face a Suez-or-Cape voyage that ends with the Danish straits and the Baltic, and they arrive at the port of Copenhagen.

Denmark registers battery producers through Dansk Producentansvar. The 5 points below are particular to this lane; each comes with what we do and the paperwork it touches.

What we need to start

  • Lianyungang export
  • Break-bulk ESS guide
  • EU declaration of conformity
  • Dansk Producentansvar registration
  • Danish-language safety information

Route profile

The Lianyungang → Copenhagen route in brief

Origin port

Lianyungang

Jiangsu's Yellow Sea port, with a simplified document list for 'new three' cargo since 2024 and its own guide for energy-storage units on break-bulk ships.

Where this route gets difficult

5 pain points from Lianyungang to Copenhagen

They run from the Lianyungang terminal through the voyage to Copenhagen and the Denmark import file.

  1. Origin port

Four cargo-side documents at Lianyungang, each checked

Under Lianyungang MSA's Notice No. 1 of 2024 the cargo side of a 'new three' filing needs four items: safe-carriage declaration, packing certificate signed by an inspector, packaging inspection certificate where the goods are packaged, and a power of attorney. A shorter list puts more weight on each paper, and the packing certificate still requires a certified inspector after supervised stuffing.

What Anxin does: We prepare the four cargo-side documents together and check that the packing certificate, the packaging certificate and the declaration describe the same UN numbers and quantities.

  2. Sea corridor

Through the Danish straits, possibly on a feeder

Cargo for Copenhagen has to pass the Danish straits. IMO recommends pilots on Route T for ships of 11 m draught or more, and the Danish Maritime Authority reports ships that ignore the recommendation to their flag state. Whether the box stays on one vessel or is transhipped onto a feeder at a North Sea port, each vessel has to accept the UN numbers.

What Anxin does: We ask the carrier to name any transhipment port and the feeder operator on the booking and confirm DG acceptance for that leg as well as the mainline.

  3. Import country

The ICS2 entry summary is due before loading in Lianyungang

For Copenhagen, EU security pre-filing happens at the other end of the voyage: the ICS2 entry summary must reach the system 24 hours before the container is loaded in Lianyungang. No filing means no loading, and a missing EORI number is enough to reject it.

What Anxin does: We collect the consignee's EORI number, an HS-level goods description and the house-bill parties at booking, and make sure the party filing the ENS has them before the Lianyungang cut-off.

  4. Import country

    Dansk Producentansvar registration via virk.dk

Since 18 August 2025 Danish battery producers register with Dansk Producentansvar through virk.dk, declaring expected quantities and chemistries. A foreign company selling straight to Danish end-users must appoint a Danish authorised representative, who confirms the registration and, for portable and LMT batteries, joins a collective scheme on its behalf.

What Anxin does: We ask the Danish buyer whether it or a foreign seller is the producer, and for the registration reference, before booking.

  5. Import country

The truck leg out of Copenhagen runs under ADR

Road delivery from Copenhagen is an ADR movement, because the EU applies ADR to domestic journeys through Directive 2008/68/EC. For UN 3480 that means class 9, transport category 2 and tunnel code (E), which restricts the route through category E tunnels; batteries found damaged at unloading move to special provision 376 packing (P908 or P911).

What Anxin does: We give the Denmark haulier the same UN number, class and package details that appear on the sea dangerous goods declaration, so the ADR transport document matches the container paperwork from Lianyungang.

Documents & compliance

Documents to line up for Lianyungang → Copenhagen

Anxin reviews documents supplied by the shipper, manufacturer and importer; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

Before loading in Lianyungang

  • The four cargo-side documents under Lianyungang MSA Notice 2024 No. 1 prepared together and cross-checked
  • Transport-condition classification report where applicable
  • Load plan showing even weight distribution (no more than 60% of the cargo weight in either half of the container length)
  • EU declaration of conformity and CE marking photo from the manufacturer
  • Importer name, trade name and postal address printed on battery or packaging

Carrier and voyage

  • Transhipment port, feeder operator and feeder DG acceptance named on the booking
  • Condition statement: new, used, damaged/defective (SP376) or for recycling (SP377)
  • Consignee EORI and HS-level description to the ENS filer before loading

At the Denmark end

Before you book

One consistent file

A document that is present but inconsistent holds a booking as surely as a missing one: the UN number, model name or carton count reads differently in the Lianyungang export filings, the carrier booking and the Denmark import papers. We compare all three before confirming space.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions

Common questions on the Lianyungang → Copenhagen route

In the producer responsibility register at Dansk Producentansvar, via virk.dk. Foreign companies selling directly to end-users need a Danish authorised representative.

Often, but it depends on the service. The Baltic is reached through the Danish straits, and we ask the carrier to name any transhipment port and confirm DG acceptance for each vessel.

Under its Notice No. 1 of 2024, the cargo side submits the DG safe-carriage declaration, the inspector-signed packing certificate, the packaging inspection certificate where the goods are packaged, and a power of attorney.
