Lithium batteries for Fraser River Port go out of Lianyungang, where the MSA simplified 'new three' filings in 2024. On the way they face a North Pacific corridor with no canal or chokepoint, and they arrive at the port of Fraser River Port.

Canada adds an eManifest that closes 24 hours before loading and a CARM account that decides whether goods are released before duty is paid. The 5 points below are particular to this lane; each comes with what we do and the paperwork it touches.

What we need to start

  • Fog season Apr–Jul
  • Lianyungang export
  • eManifest cut-off
  • CARM account
  • Bilingual labels

Where this route gets difficult

What to watch between Lianyungang and Fraser River Port: 5 points

They run from the Lianyungang terminal through the voyage to Fraser River Port and the Canada import file.

  1. Origin port

    Fog season at Lianyungang

Between April and July sea fog is a major marine hazard in the Yellow and Bohai Seas, the China Meteorological Administration says. Lianyungang, like Qingdao, can see vessels held at anchor by fog, and moving a box to another vessel means amending its DG filings.

What Anxin does: In fog season we keep slack between stuffing and the DG cut-off and have the filing data ready to amend.

  2. Sea corridor

An open-ocean crossing where weather is the main risk

From Lianyungang the drawn corridor to Fraser River Port runs across the North Pacific without a canal or Red Sea passage, so weather replaces chokepoints as the risk. The ONE Apus, bound from Yantian to Long Beach in November 2020, had a stack collapse in a storm about 1,600 nautical miles north-west of Hawaii; her owners said more than 1,900 containers could be lost or damaged, up to 40 of them hazmat.

What Anxin does: For winter sailings especially, we review blocking and bracing on stuffing photos against the CINS points before sealing, and make sure the DG declaration is complete, so a damaged box can be identified and handled correctly.

  3. Import country

eManifest: cargo data 24 hours before loading in Lianyungang

The CBSA requires marine carriers to transmit cargo and conveyance data for containers at least 24 hours before loading at the foreign port, including the estimated loading time. If the data are amended electronically before departure, the 24-hour count starts again from the CBSA's acknowledgement, so a late correction can push a box for Fraser River Port off its vessel.

What Anxin does: We send the carrier the final cargo description, UN number, weights and consignee details before the cut-off in Lianyungang and avoid amendments after the filing.

  4. Import country

Vancouver Fraser Port Authority DG acceptance via the Pacific Gateway Portal

Dangerous goods moving within the Port of Vancouver, which includes Fraser River Port, need pre-notification to the port authority and other agencies, and acceptance applications are made on the Pacific Gateway Portal. Late or inconsistent DG data holds up that step.

What Anxin does: We give the carrier and its agent the complete DG data for Fraser River Port early enough for the port authority's acceptance process, and pass the same data to the consignee's trucker.

  5. Import country

British Columbia's new battery-product EPR category

British Columbia's 2025 recycling amendments bring products that contain or use batteries of 5 kg or less, portable power stations and separately sold replacement batteries under producer responsibility. Producers must file an EPR plan by 15 December 2026 and run the program from 1 October 2027.

What Anxin does: For goods sold in British Columbia after landing at Fraser River Port, we flag the 2026 plan deadline to the importer so the brand owner's EPR membership is settled before the program starts.

Before you book

One consistent file

A document that is present but inconsistent holds a booking as surely as a missing one: the UN number, model name or carton count reads differently in the Lianyungang export filings, the carrier booking and the Canada import papers. We compare all three before confirming space.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions

Common questions on the Lianyungang → Fraser River Port route

Yes. TDG s. 9.3 allows IMDG documentation and marks for an international consignment going to or from a port, provided the document is legible in English or French and carries a 24-hour number.

Weather is the main risk on this crossing: NOAA recorded hurricane-force North Pacific storms from October to April, most often in December. We tighten the packing checks for those sailings.

Its June 2025 break-bulk ESS guide recommends 20–50% remaining charge, with converters and monitoring off and circuits disconnected.
