From Lianyungang to Mina Salman, cargo moves from northern Jiangsu through Lianyungang on the Yellow Sea, crosses an Arabian Sea passage towards the Gulf, and is discharged at the port of Mina Salman.

On the Bahraini side a licensed clearing agent normally lodges the bill of entry ahead of arrival. This page sets out 5 points specific to this route, how Anxin handles each one and which documents to prepare.

What we need to start

  • Lianyungang export
  • Break-bulk ESS guide
  • Licensed clearing agent in Bahrain

Route profile

The Lianyungang → Mina Salman route in brief

Origin port

Lianyungang

Jiangsu's Yellow Sea port, with a simplified document list for 'new three' cargo since 2024 and its own guide for energy-storage units on break-bulk ships.

Import country

Bahrain

Bahrain expects the bill of entry before import, usually through a licensed clearing agent.

Where this route gets difficult

Where Lianyungang → Mina Salman shipments get held up: 5 points

Loading port first, then the sea leg, then Mina Salman and the Bahrain market.

  1. Origin port

Four cargo-side documents at Lianyungang, each checked

Under Lianyungang MSA's Notice No. 1 of 2024 the cargo side of a 'new three' filing needs four items: safe-carriage declaration, packing certificate signed by an inspector, packaging inspection certificate where the goods are packaged, and a power of attorney. A shorter list puts more weight on each paper, and the packing certificate still requires a certified inspector after supervised stuffing.

What Anxin does: We prepare the four cargo-side documents together and check that the packing certificate, the packaging certificate and the declaration describe the same UN numbers and quantities.

  2. Origin port

    Lianyungang's break-bulk guide for ESS

For energy storage shipped on break-bulk vessels, Lianyungang MSA's June 2025 guide classes ESS cabinets as UN3480 and ESS containers as UN3536, recommends 20–50% remaining charge, and requires converters and monitoring switched off, series and parallel circuits disconnected, packages spread evenly with a low centre of gravity, and a safety meeting before the ship arrives.

What Anxin does: For ESS units we confirm the UN number the unit ships under, get the state of charge and isolation steps in writing from the manufacturer, and join the pre-arrival safety meeting with the stowage details.

  3. Sea corridor

    Jammed GNSS, unreliable AIS

The JMIC reports persistent GNSS jamming and spoofing across the Gulf of Oman, the Arabian Gulf and the Hormuz approaches, with AIS positions and speeds that do not add up; the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea are rated MODERATE. Arrival estimates built on public ship tracking are less dependable on this leg.

What Anxin does: We rely on the carrier's own schedule updates rather than third-party AIS positions when we give you an arrival estimate for Mina Salman.

  4. Cargo at sea

Heat inside the box, not just outside it

CINS lists high temperature inside the container among the key transport risks for lithium-ion cargo. Its guidance prefers on-deck stowage away from heat sources and always protected from direct sunlight; the Zhejiang MSA guide adds shading for on-deck boxes and temperature-monitored holds for under-deck stowage. On a warm corridor, where the container sits on the ship matters.

What Anxin does: We pass the carrier the stowage preference (away from heat, shaded) as a booking remark and ask how it will be handled; the carrier's stowage planner makes the final decision.

  5. Import country

A licensed clearing agent lodges the bill of entry

In Bahrain the customs bill of entry comes before the import, not after discharge, and the usual route is a registered, licensed clearing agent working to Bahrain Customs procedures.

What Anxin does: We ask the importer which licensed clearing agent will lodge the bill of entry and send that agent the invoice, packing list and DG details as soon as the ship sails from Lianyungang.

Documents & compliance

Checklist for Lianyungang → Mina Salman

Test reports, safety data sheets and import certificates come from the shipper, factory and importer, not from Anxin; our part is to review them before booking.

Before loading in Lianyungang

  • For ESS: UN3480 or UN3536 confirmed, state of charge and circuit isolation stated in writing
  • Transport-condition classification report where applicable
  • Load plan showing even weight distribution (no more than 60% of the cargo weight in either half of the container length)
  • Safety data sheet and dangerous goods safe-carriage declaration for the MSA cargo report

For the carrier and the voyage

  • Carrier's current call pattern and war-risk surcharge for the Gulf port in writing

Before you book

One consistent file

A document that is present but inconsistent holds a booking as surely as a missing one: the UN number, model name or carton count reads differently in the Lianyungang export filings, the carrier booking and the Bahrain import papers. We compare all three before confirming space.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
