From Guangzhou to Swinoujscie, cargo moves out of Nansha, at the mouth of the Pearl River, crosses a Suez-or-Cape voyage that ends with the Danish straits and the Baltic, and is discharged at the port of Swinoujscie.
Poland expects the importer to hold a BDO register entry for batteries. This page sets out 5 points specific to this route, how Anxin handles each one and which documents to prepare.
What we need to start
Route profile
The Baltic is reached only through the Danish straits, where deep-draught ships are advised to take pilots, and its northern ports set ice-class restrictions every winter.
A BDO register entry for battery introducers with its number on the documents, and the EU-wide battery and ICS2 duties.

Where this route gets difficult
They run from the Guangzhou terminal through the voyage to Swinoujscie and the Poland import file.
In September 2026 Dongguan Customs and Dongguan MSA started sharing dangerous-goods packaging certificate data, described as a first in China, together with joint action against concealed and false declarations; Huangpu Customs also runs a joint 'lithium batteries going overseas' service against misdeclaration. A packaging certificate that does not match the MSA filing is now visible to both agencies.
What Anxin does: We check that the UN number, packaging code and quantities on the packaging certificate are exactly those on the MSA cargo report before either is submitted.
Before the Danish straits, the voyage from Asia is the same as for North Europe: Sea-Intelligence data for September 2026 put Red Sea routing at 27% for North Europe services, so most boxes still go round the Cape of Good Hope, where SAMSA estimates about 35% of 2024's lost containers went overboard.
What Anxin does: We quote the Suez and Cape routings separately when both are offered and apply the CINS stuffing checks strictly on Cape sailings.
Since 18 August 2024 a battery sold in the EU needs the CE marking and an EU declaration of conformity from its manufacturer. The declaration has to be available in the language Poland requires, and the importer is the one who must check both before the goods are released for sale.
What Anxin does: We ask the manufacturer in China for the declaration of conformity and a photo of the CE marking on the battery or its packaging before loading, and pass them to the Poland importer. We check that the documents exist and match the goods; we do not assess conformity.
Poland tracks battery introducers through the BDO waste database: an importer needs its entry in the battery section before placing batteries on the market, and the BDO number goes on the documents used to trade them. Buyers often check for it on the invoice.
What Anxin does: We ask the Polish importer for its BDO number and put it on the commercial documents we prepare with the shipper.
From 18 February 2027, Article 11 requires portable batteries built into appliances to be readily removable and replaceable by the end-user with commercially available tools, without heat or solvents, apart from limited derogations. Appliances shipped to Poland for sale after that date need a design that meets the rule.
What Anxin does: When appliances with built-in batteries are booked for Poland we point the importer to the February 2027 date so the manufacturer answers the design question before shipment; we do not assess compliance.

Documents & compliance
These documents come from the shipper, the manufacturer and the importer. Anxin checks them against each other; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

A document that is present but inconsistent holds a booking as surely as a missing one: the UN number, model name or carton count reads differently in the Guangzhou export filings, the carrier booking and the Poland import papers. We compare all three before confirming space.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mismatch between packaging certificate and MSA filing flagged by shared data | Dongguan / Nansha | Line-by-line check before submission | Anxin with the declarant |
| Importer without a BDO entry for batteries | Importer in Poland | BDO number confirmed before booking | Importer |
| Declaration of conformity missing or not in the required language | Importer in Poland | Declaration and CE photo collected before loading | Manufacturer / importer |
Questions
The importer's: name, registered trade name or trade mark and postal address with a contact point, on the battery or, if it is too small, on the packaging or accompanying document.
Often, but it depends on the service. The Baltic is reached through the Danish straits, and we ask the carrier to name any transhipment port and confirm DG acceptance for each vessel.
Nansha MSA has recommended around 25% for ESS batteries and measures against accidental activation. Treat it as the local authority's recommendation; the carrier's own acceptance conditions also apply.
