Where this route gets difficult

5 pain points from Guangzhou to Aqaba

They run from the Guangzhou terminal through the voyage to Aqaba and the Jordan import file.

  1. Origin port

    Pearl River typhoon season and rolled boxes

    The tropical cyclone season in the region runs from June to October according to the Hong Kong Observatory, with July to September the busiest months. At Nansha, on the Pearl River mouth, a gate closure or a vessel change sends the DG filings and the packing certificate after the box to its new sailing.

    What Anxin does: From June to October we leave slack between stuffing and the DG cut-off at Nansha and refile quickly if the vessel changes.

  2. Origin port

    One-box inspection now reaches Nansha

    Since 22 September 2026 Guangzhou MSA accepts Dongguan MSA's factory inspection for boxes loading at Nansha and re-inspects only when necessary. The first container was stuffed in Dongguan that day and left Nansha for Singapore on 24 September. Because the arrangement is new at Nansha, the factory record needs to be correct the first time.

    What Anxin does: We ask at booking whether your Dongguan factory can use the Nansha one-box arrangement and make sure the stuffing photos, packing certificate and DG declaration match, because a mismatch is the 'necessary' case that brings the second inspection back.

  3. Sea corridor

    A selective blockade at a narrower Bab el-Mandeb

    Bab el-Mandeb was rated SUBSTANTIAL by the JMIC on 24 September 2026. The blockade the Houthis declared on 20 July is described as selective, aimed at Israeli-, Saudi- and Yemeni-government-linked ships, and their hold on Perim Island and the facing mainland narrows the strait; 95 cargo ships still passed in the 96 hours to 23 September.

    What Anxin does: We ask the carrier how its vessel to Aqaba is routed and whether any war-risk surcharge applies, and get both in writing before booking.

  4. Destination port

    Misdeclared DG is fined, leaking boxes refused

    Under the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority's rules, undeclared or misdeclared dangerous goods are fined, leaking DG containers can be refused and hazardous waste is not allowed. Used or returned batteries described as ordinary cargo are exactly the kind of shipment that falls foul of this.

    What Anxin does: We ship only new batteries declared under their correct UN number to Aqaba, and check the SDS and declaration match before loading.

  5. Import country

    Registered importer with an importer's card

    Commercial imports into Jordan need a registered trader; trading companies either hold the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply importer's card or put up a customs bond against the goods' value.

    What Anxin does: At booking we ask the Jordanian buyer whether it holds an importer's card and which authorised forwarding agent will clear the container at Aqaba.

No, but the importer must provide an Arabic translation, and only an authorised forwarding agent can file the electronic customs declaration.

Either through Bab-el-Mandeb, on the same vessel or after transhipment, or the long way round Africa and south through the Suez Canal. Container lines were being selective in September 2026, so we ask each carrier for its current routing and name it, with any risk surcharge, in the quote.

Both now have a one-box arrangement with Dongguan MSA: Yantian since May 2026 and Nansha since 22 September 2026, so a container inspected at the factory need not be reopened at the terminal unless necessary. The choice then comes down to the carrier's service to your destination and the cut-offs; we compare both when you book.
