From Guangzhou to Aarhus, cargo moves from the Pearl River Delta via Nansha, crosses a voyage that may run through Suez as drawn or round the Cape, depending on the service, and is discharged at the port of Aarhus.

Denmark registers battery producers through Dansk Producentansvar. This page sets out 5 points specific to this route, how Anxin handles each one and which documents to prepare.

What we need to start

  • Dongguan–Nansha one-box
  • Typhoon season Jun–Oct
  • Danish-language safety information
  • Consignee EORI
  • EU declaration of conformity

Route profile

How Guangzhou → Aarhus differs from other lanes

Origin port

Guangzhou (Nansha)

Pearl River Delta battery cargo through Nansha, where a September 2026 agreement lets Dongguan-inspected containers load without a second MSA check, and where typhoon season runs June to October.

Sea corridor

Asia – North & Atlantic Europe

The map shows the Suez corridor, but in September 2026 most Asia–North Europe capacity still sails round the Cape of Good Hope.

Where this route gets difficult

5 points to plan for on the Guangzhou → Aarhus route

In the order the cargo meets them: at the loading port, at sea, at Aarhus and at customs in Denmark.

  1. Origin port

Dongguan factory to Nansha: the new one-box route

On 22 September 2026 Dongguan and Guangzhou MSA agreed to extend the one-box model to Nansha: Guangzhou MSA recognises Dongguan MSA's factory inspection and does not re-inspect unless necessary. The first box was stuffed in Dongguan that day and sailed from Nansha to Singapore on 24 September. The model is new at Nansha, so the factory record has to be right first time.

What Anxin does: We ask at booking whether your Dongguan factory can use the Nansha one-box arrangement and make sure the stuffing photos, packing certificate and DG declaration match, because a mismatch is the 'necessary' case that brings the second inspection back.

  2. Sea corridor

Suez on the map, the Cape on most sailings

The corridor on this page is drawn through Bab-el-Mandeb and the Suez Canal. In practice, Sea-Intelligence data for September 2026 put Red Sea routing on the Asia–Europe head-haul at 13–25%: 27% for services to North Europe and 57% for Mediterranean services. Which service calls at Aarhus decides whether the box goes through Suez or round the Cape of Good Hope, and the two routings differ in length, in the waters crossed and in the ports where a box might be transhipped.

What Anxin does: We ask the carrier to state the routing and any transhipment port on the booking confirmation, and we quote the two routings separately when both are on offer rather than mixing them.

  3. Import country

CE marking and a declaration of conformity in the right language

Since 18 August 2024 a battery sold in the EU needs the CE marking and an EU declaration of conformity from its manufacturer. The declaration has to be available in the language Denmark requires, and the importer is the one who must check both before the goods are released for sale.

What Anxin does: We ask the manufacturer in China for the declaration of conformity and a photo of the CE marking on the battery or its packaging before loading, and pass them to the Denmark importer. We check that the documents exist and match the goods; we do not assess conformity.

  4. Import country

Mercury, cadmium and lead limits in portable batteries

Annex I of the Battery Regulation caps mercury at 0.0005 %, cadmium at 0.002 % and lead at 0.01 % by weight in portable batteries, and the lead limit has applied since 18 August 2024. Market surveillance in Denmark can ask the importer to show that the goods meet these limits.

What Anxin does: We ask the manufacturer for its substance declaration or test report reference and file it with the shipping documents for the Denmark importer; we do not test batteries.

  5. Import country

    Dansk Producentansvar registration via virk.dk

Since 18 August 2025 Danish battery producers register with Dansk Producentansvar through virk.dk, declaring expected quantities and chemistries. A foreign company selling straight to Danish end-users must appoint a Danish authorised representative, who confirms the registration and, for portable and LMT batteries, joins a collective scheme on its behalf.

What Anxin does: We ask the Danish buyer whether it or a foreign seller is the producer, and for the registration reference, before booking.

Documents & compliance

Checklist for Guangzhou → Aarhus

Anxin reviews documents supplied by the shipper, manufacturer and importer; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

At the Guangzhou end

  • Customs packaging use-appraisal result for the dangerous goods packaging (with the maker's performance appraisal)
  • Container packing certificate signed by a certified packing inspector after supervised stuffing
  • Transport-condition classification report where applicable
  • Load plan showing even weight distribution (no more than 60% of the cargo weight in either half of the container length)
  • EU declaration of conformity and CE marking photo from the manufacturer

Carrier and voyage

  • Routing (Suez or Cape of Good Hope) and any transhipment port stated on the booking confirmation
  • Dangerous goods declaration with UN number (3480 / 3481 / 3090 / 3091), proper shipping name and packing instruction (P903, or P908/P911 for damaged)
  • Lithium battery mark (SP188 cargo) or class 9 labels and placards

For the importer in Denmark

  • Dansk Producentansvar registration (or Danish authorised representative)
  • Haulier in Denmark briefed with UN number, class 9 and tunnel code (E) for the road leg
  • Label and QR-code status against the August 2026 and February 2027 dates

Before you book

One consistent file

A document that is present but inconsistent holds a booking as surely as a missing one: the UN number, model name or carton count reads differently in the Guangzhou export filings, the carrier booking and the Denmark import papers. We compare all three before confirming space.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions

Guangzhou → Aarhus: questions we are asked

24 hours before the container is loaded in China, not before it reaches Aarhus. Without it carriers do not load the box, and a filing without an EORI number is rejected.

It depends on the service. In September 2026 most Asia–North Europe capacity still sailed round the Cape of Good Hope; Sea-Intelligence put the Red Sea share for North Europe vessels at 27%. We ask the carrier to confirm the routing on the booking and quote each routing separately.

Both now have a one-box arrangement with Dongguan MSA: Yantian since May 2026 and Nansha since 22 September 2026, so a container inspected at the factory need not be reopened at the terminal unless necessary. The choice then comes down to the carrier's service to your destination and the cut-offs; we compare both when you book.
