This route runs out of Nansha, at the mouth of the Pearl River, then follows a long corridor south from the China coast, across the equator; at the far end is the port of Brisbane.
Australia adds a 48-hour sea cargo report and biosecurity paperwork for the container. The 5 points below are particular to this lane; each comes with what we do and the paperwork it touches.
What we need to start
Route profile
Pearl River Delta battery cargo through Nansha, where a September 2026 agreement lets Dongguan-inspected containers load without a second MSA check, and where typhoon season runs June to October.
A southward run towards Oceania, into Australia's November–April cyclone season and, for Australia, the BMSB season from September to April.

Where this route gets difficult
They run from the Guangzhou terminal through the voyage to Brisbane and the Australia import file.
In September 2026 Dongguan Customs and Dongguan MSA started sharing dangerous-goods packaging certificate data, described as a first in China, together with joint action against concealed and false declarations; Huangpu Customs also runs a joint 'lithium batteries going overseas' service against misdeclaration. A packaging certificate that does not match the MSA filing is now visible to both agencies.
What Anxin does: We check that the UN number, packaging code and quantities on the packaging certificate are exactly those on the MSA cargo report before either is submitted.
The Hong Kong Observatory puts the region's tropical cyclone season from June to October, busiest July to September. Nansha sits at the mouth of the Pearl River; a closed gate or a changed vessel means the DG filings and the packing certificate have to follow the box to a new sailing.
What Anxin does: From June to October we leave slack between stuffing and the DG cut-off at Nansha and refile quickly if the vessel changes.
Australia's brown marmorated stink bug measures apply to goods shipped from 1 September to 30 April, judged by the shipped-on-board date on the bill of lading. Chapter 85, which covers batteries, is a target high-risk chapter; goods from China, listed as an emerging risk country, may be picked for random onshore inspection, and if the container is transhipped through a target risk country treatment can become mandatory.
What Anxin does: We ask the carrier to confirm the transhipment port for Brisbane before booking so that the BMSB status is known, and make sure the bill of lading shows the shipped-on-board date.
Port of Brisbane requires dangerous goods on a ship to be reported through DGTRAC at least 48 hours before it enters the pilotage area. For a battery container on a ship from Guangzhou, the carrier's agent needs the DG details well before that.
What Anxin does: We send final DG data with the booking, so the DGTRAC report for Brisbane is not held up by missing cargo details.
Since 22 June 2022 consumer products sold in Australia that contain button or coin batteries must have secure compartments, child-resistant packaging, warnings and compliance testing. It applies to the product, not the shipment, but goods arriving at Brisbane that do not comply cannot be supplied.
What Anxin does: For consumer goods with button or coin cells we ask the importer for its test reports and packaging artwork before production ends in Guangzhou.

Documents & compliance
These documents come from the shipper, the manufacturer and the importer. Anxin checks them against each other; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

We line up UN numbers, model names and package counts across the Guangzhou filings, the booking with the carrier and the documents for Australia before the booking is confirmed, so that a mismatch is fixed at origin rather than discovered at Brisbane.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mismatch between packaging certificate and MSA filing flagged by shared data | Dongguan / Nansha | Line-by-line check before submission | Anxin with the declarant |
| Typhoon closure after filings are made | Nansha, Jun–Oct | Slack in stuffing date; prompt refiling | Anxin with the declarant |
| Container selected for BMSB inspection or treatment | Australian border, Sep–Apr | Transhipment port and B/L date checked | Importer, supported by Anxin |
Questions
Through DGTRAC, at least 48 hours before the ship enters the pilotage area.
Chapter 85 goods are target high-risk goods. China is an emerging risk country, so goods shipped from China between 1 September and 30 April may be selected for random inspection; transhipment through a target risk country can make treatment mandatory.
Both now have a one-box arrangement with Dongguan MSA: Yantian since May 2026 and Nansha since 22 September 2026, so a container inspected at the factory need not be reopened at the terminal unless necessary. The choice then comes down to the carrier's service to your destination and the cut-offs; we compare both when you book.
