Misdeclaration is the problem Dalian's MSA names first
Dayaowan MSA reported in April 2024 that omissions and misdeclarations of lithium battery cargo were frequent because the rules are complex. Its answer was a dedicated desk and hotline, priority handling for EV batteries, and AI comparison of documents to cut down container openings: a comparison that flags any gap between the declaration and the paperwork behind it.
What Anxin does: We reconcile the UN number, classification, packing group, quantity and SDS across every document before filing, which is exactly what an automated comparison will test.

Cape waters saw about a third of 2024's container losses
Round-Africa routing puts battery containers through South African waters. Of the 576 containers the World Shipping Council recorded as lost at sea in 2024, the South African Maritime Safety Authority estimates about 200, roughly 35%, went overboard near the Cape. In August 2024 alone, SAMSA reported 99 boxes lost from the CMA CGM Belem off Richards Bay and 46 from the MSC Antonio off Port St Johns in wintry weather.
What Anxin does: When the booking goes via the Cape, we apply the CINS stuffing checks (gaps, blocking, wall clearance) more strictly and ask for photos at every stage of packing.

Spain's battery register and the number on invoices
Spain's industry ministry runs the RII-PYA battery register, and every battery importer must be registered and declared as a producer there, either through a collective scheme filing for its members or directly online with an electronic signature or Cl@ve. The register number issued has to appear on the producer's invoices.
What Anxin does: We ask the Spanish importer for its RII-PYA number and whether its SCRAP filed the registration, then carry the number on the documents we prepare for Gijón.

Safety information in a language Spain accepts
An importer has to ensure that batteries are accompanied by instructions and safety information in a language that end-users in Spain can easily understand, as the Member State determines. Inserts and carton print are much simpler to adjust before packing in China.
What Anxin does: We ask the importer which language Spain requires and check carton and insert photos against it before loading.

Built-in portable batteries must be user-replaceable from February 2027
From 18 February 2027, Article 11 requires portable batteries built into appliances to be readily removable and replaceable by the end-user with commercially available tools, without heat or solvents, apart from limited derogations. Appliances shipped to Spain for sale after that date need a design that meets the rule.
What Anxin does: When appliances with built-in batteries are booked for Spain we point the importer to the February 2027 date so the manufacturer answers the design question before shipment; we do not assess compliance.
