  1. Origin port

    Dalian's MSA says misdeclared battery cargo is common

    According to Dayaowan MSA in April 2024, lithium battery cargo was often under-declared or misdeclared because the rules are complicated. It responded with a dedicated desk and hotline, priority for EV batteries, and AI-based document comparison intended to reduce container openings, which means any mismatch between the declaration and its supporting papers gets flagged.

    What Anxin does: We reconcile the UN number, classification, packing group, quantity and SDS across every document before filing, which is exactly what an automated comparison will test.

  2. Origin port

    Fewer battery sailings from Dalian under JT/T 1543

    Dalian's battery flow is modest: Dalian MSA recorded 885 TEU of lithium battery exports in the first four months of 2025, and Liaoning's first export under JT/T 1543 left Dayaowan on 4 May 2025. Carriers should refuse batteries that fail JT/T 1543, and a thin flow leaves fewer alternative sailings when a booking is turned down.

    What Anxin does: We check JT/T 1543 conformity evidence with the manufacturer before booking and confirm the carrier's acceptance of the UN numbers in writing.

  3. Sea corridor

    Cyclone season in the Australian region, November to April

    The Bureau of Meteorology puts Australia's tropical cyclone season from 1 November to 30 April. The route to Dunedin crosses the Coral or Solomon Sea, where cyclones form in that period and close ports on their track.

    What Anxin does: For November–April sailings we build slack into delivery plans and pass on the carrier's revised arrival.

  4. Import country

    Containers must arrive clean, inside and out

    MPI's import health standard for sea containers requires them to arrive clean inside and outside, free of soil, plant material and pests. A dirty container at Dunedin can be sent for inspection, cleaning or treatment, which delays the batteries inside.

    What Anxin does: We ask the packing site in Dalian to check and photograph the empty container before stuffing, and reject one that is not clean.

  5. Import country

    Dunedin's port is Port Chalmers

    Port Otago's container port is Port Chalmers, one of New Zealand's two deepest container ports and the main export port for the lower South Island. A container booked to Dunedin is handled there, so the DG notification and collection are arranged with Port Otago.

    What Anxin does: We book containers for Otago to Port Chalmers and give the consignee the terminal details for collection.
