Where this route gets difficult

5 points to plan for on the Dalian → Mormugao route

  1. Origin port

    Sea fog off Dalian, April to July

    Sea fog is one of the main marine hazards of the Yellow and Bohai Seas according to the China Meteorological Administration, concentrated between April and July and with a serious effect on shipping. A vessel held at anchor by fog can arrive late enough to push a box beyond the sailing its documents name.

    What Anxin does: In the fog season we avoid tight stuffing-to-cut-off gaps and keep the filing data ready to amend if the vessel changes.

  2. Origin port

    Winter sea ice near Dayaowan

    The Bohai Sea and the northern Yellow Sea freeze every winter. For 2021/22 China's marine forecast centre expected floating ice around 15 nautical miles offshore in the northern Yellow Sea, where Dayaowan is, and around 60 in Liaodong Bay, with the peak between mid-January and mid-February.

    What Anxin does: For January–February sailings from Dalian we allow extra time between stuffing and the DG cut-off and reconfirm the vessel schedule the week before loading.

  3. Sea corridor

    June to September: south-west monsoon seas

    From June to September the south-west monsoon brings rough seas to the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. A container heading for Mormugao in those months meets heavy rolling, which loosens a poorly braced load.

    What Anxin does: In monsoon months we check blocking and bracing strictly on stuffing photos before sealing.

  4. Import country

    The south-west monsoon reaches the west coast in June

    The India Meteorological Department dates the south-west monsoon's arrival over Kerala to around 1 June (4 June in 2026), after which it moves north and covers the whole country by about mid-July. From then until the season ends, arrivals at Mormugao meet monsoon rain on the quay and on the roads inland.

    What Anxin does: For monsoon-season arrivals at Mormugao we ask for cartons with moisture protection and tell the consignee to plan unstuffing under cover.

  5. Import country

    crsbis.in decides: manufacturer, model and factory must match

    Indian customs now verify BIS registrations online (CBIC Instruction 27/2025). If the manufacturer, model or factory location on the documents for Mormugao differs from crsbis.in, or the registration is deferred or cancelled, the goods are not cleared.

    What Anxin does: We compare the model numbers and factory address on the invoice with the registration shown on crsbis.in before the goods leave Dalian.
