This route runs through Dayaowan, where Liaoning's first JT/T 1543 lithium export sailed in May 2025, then follows a Suez corridor that Mediterranean services are using again more than any other Asia–Europe lane; at the far end is the port of Port Said.
Egypt requires a 19-digit ACID number on the bill of lading before the cargo leaves China. Below are 5 route-specific points to plan for, what we do about each, and the documents to have ready before booking.
What we need to start
Route profile
North-east China's battery gateway at Dayaowan, with a small but growing lithium export flow, a local MSA that has named misdeclaration as its main problem, and both winter ice and spring fog.
Egypt's ACI system starts in China: no ACID on the bill of lading means the box is not unloaded.

Where this route gets difficult
In the order the cargo meets them: at the loading port, at sea, at Port Said and at customs in Egypt.
According to Dayaowan MSA in April 2024, lithium battery cargo was often under-declared or misdeclared because the rules are complicated. It responded with a dedicated desk and hotline, priority for EV batteries, and AI-based document comparison intended to reduce container openings, which means any mismatch between the declaration and its supporting papers gets flagged.
What Anxin does: We reconcile the UN number, classification, packing group, quantity and SDS across every document before filing, which is exactly what an automated comparison will test.
The Bohai Sea and the northern Yellow Sea freeze every winter. For 2021/22 China's marine forecast centre expected floating ice around 15 nautical miles offshore in the northern Yellow Sea, where Dayaowan is, and around 60 in Liaodong Bay, with the peak between mid-January and mid-February.
What Anxin does: For January–February sailings from Dalian we allow extra time between stuffing and the DG cut-off and reconfirm the vessel schedule the week before loading.
Asia–Mediterranean services used the Red Sea 57% of the time in September 2026 according to Sea-Intelligence, compared with 27% for North Europe, so a box for Port Said most probably goes via Suez and through Bab el-Mandeb. The JMIC rated that strait SUBSTANTIAL on 24 September 2026; the Houthis call their blockade selective and now hold Perim Island in the channel.
What Anxin does: We ask the carrier which routing its service to Port Said uses and name it on the quote, together with any war-risk or emergency surcharge.
Egypt puts part of the clearance work on the Chinese exporter: a verified CargoX account and, for sea cargo, invoice, bill of lading, packing list and certificate of origin uploaded at least 48 hours before the ship reaches Port Said.
What Anxin does: We check with the shipper in Dalian that its CargoX account is verified before booking, and remind it to upload the document set as soon as the bill of lading is issued.
Since 22 July 2026 the Importers Register runs under Decree No. 271 of 2026: GOEIC decides within 15 days of a complete file, filing is going online, and foreign-owned companies have a limited, time-bound route in.
What Anxin does: We ask the Egyptian buyer to confirm its Importers Register status before we book the container for Port Said.

Documents & compliance
Anxin reviews documents supplied by the shipper, manufacturer and importer; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

A document that is present but inconsistent holds a booking as surely as a missing one: the UN number, model name or carton count reads differently in the Dalian export filings, the carrier booking and the Egypt import papers. We compare all three before confirming space.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.
Risk & mitigation
| Risk | Where | Mitigation | Who acts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ice delays berthing in mid-winter | Northern Yellow Sea, Jan–Feb | Extra time before cut-off; schedule reconfirmed | Carrier, monitored by Anxin |
| Declaration flagged by document comparison; container opened | Dayaowan | Cross-document reconciliation before filing | Anxin with the declarant |
| Security incident near Bab el-Mandeb changes the routing or adds surcharges | Southern Red Sea | Routing and surcharges stated in writing before booking | Carrier, checked by Anxin |
| CargoX documents not uploaded in time | Egyptian Customs (ACI) | Upload reminder when the B/L is issued | Shipper |
Questions
A 19-digit number the Egyptian importer obtains on Nafeza before the shipment departs; it must be on the bill of lading and all shipping documents, or the cargo is not unloaded.
Often: in September 2026, 57% of Asia–Mediterranean services used the Red Sea routing. Bab el-Mandeb was rated a SUBSTANTIAL threat by the JMIC on 24 September 2026, so we confirm each service's routing before booking.
Sea ice forms every winter in the northern Yellow Sea; in 2021/22 it was forecast to reach about 15 nautical miles out there, peaking mid-January to mid-February. We plan extra time for those weeks.
